Abstract

A mixing and distributing apparatus comprises a mobile elongate, substantially cylindrical, container (10) to receive foodstuff materials through an elongate opening (12) in a top thereof. The container (10) is provided with mixing means having a horizontally orientated, rotatable shaft carrying a plurality of mixing paddles (11) therearound. The paddles (11) have blades, on rotation of the shaft, to sweep around the inside surface of the container (10). Means are provided to rotate the shaft. An elongate guard means (16, 18) is hinged to and along all or part of one longitudinal side of the opening (12). The guard means (16, 18) is movable between an outboard position to allow materials to be placed through the opening (12) and an inboard position whereat it partially covers the opening (12).
