Abstract

A high lift tipping trailer with multi purpose use having a body with removable drop down sides, removable rear tail-gate with integral chute and removable rear corner posts comprises a sub-chassis with a solid beam axle fitted to the front end hinged at the rear to a rigid chassis to be moved down in an arc by hydraulic rams lifting the rear end of the trailer. In the lifted position the hydraulic flow to the rams is locked off by a diverter valves positioned at the front of the trailer for safety. Before the diverter valve is locked off the hydraulic system will only operate the tail lift rams, when the diverter valve is locked off the hydraulic system will operate the tipping ram and a chute door ram. The diverter valve allows tipping the trailer from the transport vehicle or switches over to operate the tipping ram and/or chute door ram from two monoblock valves at the rear nearside of the trailer for one man operation. The tail-gate and chute with rams attached can be removed together with the rear corner posts, the hydraulic pipes to the chute door rams are fitted with quick release couplings at the monoblock valve for easy removal.

Description

HIGH LIFT TIPPING TRAILER with multi purpose use This invention relates to a high lift tipping trailer with multi purpose use (hereinafter called high lift tipping trailer).
Tipping trailers are well known and widely used in agriculture, ground work maintenance, golf courses and sports grounds and comprise a wheeled chassis and hinged body with tipping mechanism some of which incorporate a scissor action in the form of a second chassis which are relatively expensive.
According to the present invention there is provided a high lift tipping trailer comprising a standard tipping trailer with a unique hydraulically operated rear axle which moves the axle down in an arc lifting the complete rear of the trailer to the desired height, means for locking off enabling the trailer to be hydraulically tipped in the normal way and the load discharged into a hopper or spreading machine such as fertiliser spreader, top dressing spreader and spreading and grading machines, all types of material, wet or dry, can be transported for transfer to a machine where a normal tipping trailer would not have sufficient discharge height, means for controlling the flow and amount of material being discharged, the rear double height tail gate being adapted to provide a chute with a hydraulically operated guillotine action door, means for operating the tipping and chute door are provided at the rear near-side of the trailer by two monoblock valves allowing the operator unrestricted view of the discharge material. The chute is provided with adjustment by means of hinge action and restraining chains. Multi purpose use is provided to convert the high lift tipping trailer to a standard tipping trailer by removing the double height tail-gate with integral chute and rear corner posts replacing the same with standard tail-gate and corner posts (supplied with the high lift tipping trailer) and with the high lift and chute door hydraulic mechanism locked off can be tipped from the transport vehicle in the normal way for standard tipping trailers.Multi purpose use is further provided to convert the high lift tipping trailer to a flat bed trailer by removing the tail-gate, corner posts and drop down sides locking off the hydraulic mechanism the high lift tipping trailer can be used as a flat bed trailer.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Plan View Shows Chassis and Trailer Body Side Elevation Shows the trailer in position on the chassis.
Figure 2 Illustrates the trailer in use as a standard tipping trailer with body fully extended which is operated from the towing vehicle hydraulically, operated through a hydraulic diverter block (No2) note height (Fig 2 A) which ls standard trailer tipping height.
Figure 3 Shows trailer body in closed position with rear tail hydraulic lift extended when diverter lever (No2) is closed the rear tail hydraulic lift is locked off. Note extended tipping height (Fig 3 "A+B") which can be varied to meet customer specification and intended use.
Figure 4 Shows rear tail hydraulic lift fully extended and locked off also trailer body fully tipped hydraulically.
Note safety feature the trailer body cannot be tipped until the rear tail lift hydraulic system in locked off by closing diverter lever (No2). The trailer body then is hydraulically lifted by operating one lever of a two way monoblock valve at the rear nearside of the trailer (Nol).
The guillotine chute gate opening is then operated hydraulically by two rams from the other lever of the monoblock valve at the nearside rear of the trailer (Nol) and the chute spout height can be adjusted manually on a hinged mechanism and restraining chains.
All reference numbers are shown in drawings Plan View and Side Elevation.
