Abstract

A drinks can is provided with a layer of protective material around the opening and on the side of the can adjacent the opening. In the preferred embodiment the device is adhered to the top of the can around the opening. Pulling on a tag unfolds part of the device which can then be folded down and attached to the side of the can adjacent the opening. A clean contact surface for the drinkers lips is thus provided. The whole device may initially be covered with a protective release layer which is removed before use.

Description

THE SIP LIP [ Technical field] This invention relates to an aid to hygiene and product differentiation: the 'Sip Lip'.
[Background] Presently cans of drink and other consumables are sold to many millions of people throughout the word.
At present nothing is used to keep the can hygienically clean between manufacture and consumption.
Thus people are forced either to drink directly from dirty cans or consume the contents into which a dirty seal has entered by alternative means.
[Essential technical features] According to the present invention there is provided a covering, attached to the can which will result in a hygienic drinking area.
[Example] A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a bird's eye view of the 'Sip Lip' attached to the top of the can.
Figure 2 shows in perspective, the 'Sip Lip' opened up and affixed to the top and side drinking area of the can.
Figure 3 shows the removable cover which protects the adhesive surface of the 'Sip Lip'.
Figure 4 shows the 'Sip lip in isolation from the can.
Referring to the drawing the 'Sip Lip' comprises the main body which is attached to the can itself.
There is a detachable cover which is removed by pulling on the tag at the top of the can.
This reveals an adhesive surface which can be unfolded to attach to the side of the can.
The can is then ready to be opened with a clean drinking surface.

Claims (3)

  1. [Claims] 1. A 'Sip Lip' is a means of maintaining hygienic surfaces on cans of
    consumables. It comprises the main body attached to the can and a detachable cover attached to the top surface of the device.
  2. 2. A 'Sip Lip', as claimed in Claim 1 once the detachable cover has been removed, has an adhesive surface which enables the device to be unfolded and stuck to the side of the can.
  3. 3. A 'Sip Lip', as claimed in Claims 1 or Claims 2, wherein on being unfolded and attached to the side of the can, results in the can ready to be opened with a hygienic drinking surface.
