Abstract
An adhesive tape for masking a surface prior to painting or decorating has shaped edges so as to leave a pattern when the tape is subsequently removed.
Description
SHAPED ADHESIVE TAPE
This invention relates to a shaped adhesive tape.
Adhesive tape is a well known form of bonding and masking material which comprises of a flexible adhesive material placed onto a roll or flat packed.
Adhesive tapes however are not shaped they only have straight edges as the purposes that they are required for demand this.
The shaped adhesive tape comprises of a piece of flexible adhesive material which is cut to produce a tape which is specifically shaped for the purpose intended this being to produce a decorative effect.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by the way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which
Figure 1 shows the tape in perspective.
Figure 2 illustrates the tape being used on a surface.
Figure 3 illustrates the decorative finish being applied over the entire surface.
Figure 4 illustrates the tape being removed from the surface thus completing the process.
Referring to the drawings, Fig 1. shows the tape in it's original form the actual shape depicted is only an example as the actual tape can appear in any shape according to the individual specifications required although the original principal will remain the same.
Fig 2. shows the shaped tape applied to a surface in the desired way again it could be different if the job required this for example if the surface was a door.
Fig 3. shows the surface from Fig 2. with a decorative coating used over the entire surface the decorative coating could be for example paint, artex or any other textured finish.
Fig 4. shows the shaped tape removed from the surface leaving a pattern behind where the tape once was. The surface can now be left at this point as complete or can be overpainted with an emulsion paint or similar finish to create the desired appearance.
Claims (3)
1. A shaped adhesive tape comprising of an adhesive material with shaped edges throughout the entire piece or roll.
2. A shaped adhesive tape as claimed in claim 1 wherein adhesive material means any suitable flexible material for the purpose intended.
3. A shaped adhesive masking tape as claimed in claim 1 wherein shaped edges means specifically shaped edges for the purpose intended.
3. A shaped adhesive tape as claimed in claim 1 wherein shaped edges means specifically shaped edges for the purpose intended.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows
CLAIMS 1. A shaped adhesive masking tape comprising of an adhesive material with shaped edges throughout the entire piece or roll.
2. A shaped adhesive masking tape as claimed in claim 1 wherein adhesive material means any suitable flexible material for the purpose intended.
