Abstract

A knife comprises a body 14 providing a handle and a blade 10 secured to the body by means of a screw 18. The blade has a lower cutting edge protected by a shoe 12 and is used by moving the knife in a rearwards direction 20. The blade is provided with a secondary cutting edge protruding from an upper surface of the body allowing a shallow depth penetration of the cutter into packaging. The blade 10 can pivot, when screw 18 is slackened, to enclose the secondary blade edge in the body (Fig 1).

Description

PRODUCT PACKAGING BLADE & KNIFE.
This invention relates to a Product packaging blade and knife.
Knives are well known, used in business, home and in leisure persuits and are usually comprised of two sides which makes up the body ,blade and a means to secure, some are retractable, some are not.
Knives are relatively expensive, moreover when they are used, can and have caused damage but remain a necessity and what the knife has cut usually cannot be used or sold.
According to the present invention, there is provided a product packaging blade & knife comprising a blade upon which a shoe is placed, thus giving the means of an under lying protection in the cutting action, a body and a means for releasably, secwing the blade onto the body, also the top end of such blade is used as a secondary edge, protruding out of the front and top of the body to give a shallow depth penetration.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows in perpective, the blade plus shoe with the body in the in position.
FIGURE 2 illustrates the blade plus shoe in the out position thus also shows the top end of such blade as a secondary edge in its out position as not shown infigure 1.
Figure 3 shows the three perspective parts in separation position.
Referring to the drawing the product packaging blade & knife comprises a blade 10 and a shoe 12, body 14, also the secondary edge of such blade 10 and 18 a screw or similar means (not shown in detail for adjustable release and secure).
The body 14 has a contoured shape, as you can see the head of the body is shaped to allow for a secondary opening for the secondary edge, as see in FIG 2 also the head of the body is angled to make it easier to achieve the right cutting position.
In order to remove the blade from the body into the out position as in FIG 2, you must release the securing screw 18, so a pivot action occures, as you can see the screw 18 would be plum with the body 14.
In order to reduce damage when used in the cutting action a shoe 12 is placed on the blade 10 shown in FIG 2 moving in the direction of the arrow 20,(the means of attachment of the shoe to the blade is not shown).
The secondary edge as shown in FIG 2 needs to move in the direction of the arrow 22 to form a shallow depth penetration, in fact this means you need to turn it up side down.
As you can see in FIG 1, the blade 10, plus the shoe 12 and the secondary edge 10 of such blade are in the closed position which means its secured inside the body 14 To remove the blade to change, remove screw 18 ,shown in FIG 1 ,FIG 2 and FIG 3, replace blade 10 ,as shown ,and to close reverse sequence in steps descnbed in FIG 3.

Claims (10)

-CLAIMS
1.A product packaging blade & knife has a body with the screw as a means of release and secure, a shoe which is placed upon the blade plus the top end of such blade being adapted as a secondary edge.
2. A product packaging blade & knife as claimed in claim 1 has a body which allows a secondary opening and a angled head which makes it easier to use in the cutting action.
3. A product packaging blade & knife as claimed in claim 2 wherein has the means of release and secuning by screw.
4.A product packaging blade & knife as in claim 2 or claim 3 the release of such screw causes a pivot action to the blade so that the blade is in the out position for cutting.
5. As in claim 3 and claim 4 the shoe is placed on such blade to protect stock while in the cutting motion.
6. Also as in claim 4 and claim 5 the top end of such blade acts as a secondary edge, and protrudes out of the body when the blade is in the out position.
7. As in claim 6 the secondary edge protrudes out and ajacent to the shoe and blade in claim 4 ,to this the cutting motion of the secondary edge is achieved by twinning the body up side down.
8. A product packaging blade & knife as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the body is provided with at least one screw.
9. A product packaging blade & knife as claimed in claim 8, wherein the or each body is provided with at least one blade.
10. A product packaging blade & knife substantialW as described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
