Abstract
A hairdryer assembly comprising a flexible 10 attached at one end to a base 20 and to a hairdryer 30 at the opposite end of the the flexible from the base.
Description
Hairdryer Assembly
The present invention concerns a hairdryer assembly.
Hairdryers, other than the dome type used in salons, are hand held and are provided with handles adapted for either personal or salon use.
For personal use, the design of hand held driers is not optimal, making styling operations requiring the use of two hands problematical.
The present invention provides an improved hairdryer arrangement.
According to the present invention there is provided a hairdryer arrangement comprising a flexible arm attached at one end to a base and having a hairdryer attached and being of such stiffness as will support the hairdryer to it at the other end. The flexible arm may comprise a steel arm in any position to which it can be brought by deliberate flexive of the arm.
The flexible arm can be of the helically wound strip type.
The base may have an extended rigid section.
The base may be attached to a vertically inclined surface. Such a surface may, for example, be of a wall, a mirror unit or a dresser unit.
Alternatively, the base maybe a free-standing base of sufficient weight to counterbalance the weight of the hairdryer.
A power cable can be run through a helically wound strip arm.
A power cable may be attached to the flexible arm.
The hairdryer may be detachable, and may comprise a conventional handheld hairdryer, which may be attached to the flexible arm by means of a clamp.
However, the invention also comprises a hairdryer specially adapted to fit on the end of the flexible arm, which may terminate in a socket receiving a plug arrangement of the hairdryer. The hairdryer need not have a handle of course. The plug and socket connection should be such that the hairdryer will not work loose or fall off in use. The assembly may also comprise a support to secure the detachable hairdryer.
The invention will be apparent from the following figures and description, of which:
Figure 1 shows a side view of a hairdryer assembly;
Figure 2 shows a side view of a hairdryer assembly;
Figure 3 shows a side view of a hairdryer assembly; and
Figure 4 shows an exploded vertical cross-sectional view of a
hairdryer assembly.
The assembly comprises a flexible arm 10 attached at one end to a base 20 and having a hairdryer 30 so attached to it at the other end. The flexible arm is of such stiffness as will support the hairdryer.
The base 20 is a free standing base of sufficient weight to counterbalance the weight of the hairdryer 30.
The flexible arm 10 comprises a flexible steel arm. The flexible steel arm is of the helically wound strip type.
The base has an extended rigid section 21.
The assembly also comprises an electrical supply for the hairdryer 30. The electrical supply comprises a power cable 40 integral to the flexible arm 10.
The hairdryer 30 is detachable.
The power cable 40 terminates in a socket 50 to which the hairdryer 30 attaches.
The assembly also comprises a support 60 for the hairdryer 30.
An assembly according to the present invention also comprises a flexible arm 10 attached at one end to a base 20 and having a hairdryer 30 so attached to it at the other end. The flexible arm is of such stiffness as will support the hairdryer.
The base 20 is vertically inclined and is attached to a wall (not shown).
The flexible arm 10 comprises a flexible steel arm. The flexible steel arm is of the helically wound strip type.
The base has an extended rigid section 21.
The assembly also comprises an electrical supply for the hairdryer 30. The electrical supply comprises a power cable 40 attached to the flexible arm 10 and the base 20,21.
The hairdryer 30 is detachable and comprises a conventional hand-help hairdryer attached to the flexible arm 10 bymeans of a clamp 31.
