Abstract

A promotional display unit, e.g. for marketing malt whiskies, has an illuminated circular tray unit 5 that may be rotated - manually, or by means of an mechanical or electrical motor - for easy display and access to the promoted merchandise. The display tray is illuminated by a lamp unit 1-3 embedded in the center of the tray, the tray being enabled to rotate by being mounted on a ball bearing unit 6 attached to a circular base 7.

Description

PROMOTIONAL DISPLAY UNIT This invention relates to a promotional display unit.
Promotional display units, which come in a variety of shapes and sizes, are employed to promote and display various forms of merchandise.
Unfortunately, most display units tend to overutilize limited space, and attempts to illuminate them exacerbate the problem of space overutilization. Moreover, attempts to economise on space tend to delimit access to the merchandise displayed.
According to the present invention there is provided a promotional display unit, comprising a lamp fixture and shade attached to a hollow tube containing the light flex, mounted vertically through apertures in a circular tray and a ball bearing unit, the circular tray being mounted on the ball bearing unit, which is secured to a circular base cut to accommodate the outgoing flex of the lamp, enabling the tray to be rotated manually on the ball bearing unit. This provides for easy access to and illumination of displayed merchandise while providing an economical utilization of available space.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which : Figure 1 shows in perspective the front elevation of the promotional display unit.
Referring to the drawing the promotional display unit includes a lamp shade 1 and lamp unit 2, attached to a hollow tube 3 containing the light flex 4. The hollow tube 3 passes through apertures in a circular tray 5 and ball bearing unit 6. The ball bearing unit is attached to the tray and to a circular base 7 by screws. The hollow tube 3 is also secured to the circular base 7, which is cut to allow the lamp flex to exit at the bottom of the display unit. The tray can be rotated manually for easy access to the merchandise displayed and illuminated upon it.

Claims (2)

1. A promotional display unit, comprising a lamp fixture and shade attached to a hollow tube containing the light flex, mounted vertically through apertures in a circular tray and a ball bearing unit, the circular tray being mounted on the ball bearing unit, which is secured to a circular base cut to accommodate the outgoing flex of the lamp, enabling the tray to be rotated manually on the ball bearing unit. This provides for easy access to and illumination of displayed merchandise while providing an economical utilization of available space.
2. A promotional display unit as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the tray unit is rotatable at a fixed velocity by means of a mechanical or electrical motor.
