Abstract

A smoking pipe includes a body 3 housing several bowls 6 for receiving a smokeable substance and a moveable cover 1, able to allow access to any one of the bowls, or to cover them all and transform the pipe into a pendant or other clothing accessory. The body and cover are circular and flat, secured together by their centres 8 so that the cover can rotate over the body. The cover has an access hole 2 offset to line up with the bowls, or a through hole 4 in the body. Each bowl communicates with an outlet hole 5 at the edge of the body to allow smoke to be drawn through the pipe when the cover is in position. When hole in the cover lines up with the through hole in the body it may be threaded as a pendant, locking the cover in position and sealing the bowls.

Description

PENDANT DISC PIPE This invention relates to a smoking pipe, which can be worn about the person as a pendant or other suitable clothing accessory.

Smoking pipes are well known. Typically a pipe will comprise a bowl into which a smokeable substance can be placed, a mouthpiece to allow smoke to be drawn from the pipe and a passageway which connects the bowl to the mouthpiece.

Usually smoking pipes necessitate reloading when the smokeable substance is spent. The smoking pipe will usually be conspicuous in its form.

According to the present invention there is provided a pendant disc pipe comprising a body in the shape of a flat disc, a circular cover bearing a hole offset from it's centre ,means for securing the cover to the body to allow rotational movement between the two around their centres, a series of bowls set into the body positioned to enable alignment with the hole in the cover, means of allowing a passage of air from the bowls to an exit point on the perimeter of the body and means of threading the pipe through body and cover.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows an exploded view of the pendant pipe; Figure 2 shows the rotating action of the cover; Figure 3 shows the cover in pendant position; and Figure 4 shows the cover in position for smoking use.

Referring to the drawing the pendant pipe comprises (as shown in Figure 1) a body 3 and a cover 1 secured together by means that allow rotational movement between the two, in this case a nut and bolt 7 through the pieces centre holes 8. The cover has an access hole 2 offset from the centre. The body houses three bowls 6 and one through hole 4, all offset from the centre the same distance as the access hole from the centre of the cover. The body also has a draw hole 5 towards one edge.

The body is hollow and sealed in a way as to allow air drawn manually out through the draw hole to be drawn into the pipe exclusively through each of the bowls.

The example has several working positions determined by the position chosen for the rotating cover (Figure 2).

Figure 3 shows the access hole in the cover lined up with the through hole in the body to allow the pendant pipe to be threaded as a pendant.

Figure 4 shows the access hole in the cover lined up with one of the bowls in the body allowing the bowl to be loaded with a smokeable substance and smoked as a pipe.

The rotating cover allows all three of the bowls to be loaded and the pipe carried in pendant position before being smoked individually. The cover is returned to smoking position, a flame is offered to the chosen bowl and the smoker is able to draw smoke out through the draw hole.

Claims

1 A pendant disc pipe comprising a body in the shape of a flat disc, a circular cover bearing a hole offset from it's centre, means for securing the cover to the body to allow rotational movement between the two around their centres, a series of bowls set into the body positioned to enable alignment with the hole in the cover, means of allowing a passage of air from the bowls to an exit point on the perimeter of the body and means of threading the pipe through body and cover.

2 A pendant disc pipe as claimed in Claim 1, wherein a suitable mouthpiece is incorporated in the form of an extension from the exit point on the perimeter of the body.

3 A pendant disc pipe as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein access to the bowls is additionally provided from the reverse side of the body through a cover which is similar to, which is aligned to, and whose action is linked with that of the first cover, to allow the user to apply the flame to the bowls from the reverse side of the pipe.

4 A pendant disc pipe as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from metal, wood or synthesised material, or from a combination of these materials.
