Description
MOBILE FISHING STATION
This invention relates to a mobile fishing station.
There is a well known problem attached to beach fishing, in that a substantial amount of tackle has to be transported to the venue on foot. This would reasonably consist of two fishing rods (unassembled length approximately 6' 0"), a tripod or similar means to support the fishing rods in use, a tackle/seat box and a pressure lamp.
However the problem really starts when a person arrives and starts to fish.
The example that follows serves to illustrate this problem.
Example: It is dark, the tide is at low water and coming in. The angler has arrived and set up two fishing rods, these are positioned in the rod rest.
During the time it has taken the angler to be in this position the tide has advanced up the beach towards him. He now has to move his equipment away from the encroaching tide. This is accomplished by making several visits to and from the present fishing position to the new position up the beach. The most difficult of which is to move both fishing rods and tripod simultaneously. This involves supporting both fishing rods in one hand with the anti-reverse mechanism on the reels disengaged (so as to release fishing line), and carrying the tripod in the other hand. The angler now has to walk backwards up the beach to the new position.
This sequence of events, or a variation on them has to be repeated throughout the fishing session.
According to the present invention there is provided a mobile fishing station consisting of a wheeled chassis incorporated to which is a facility to support in use up to two fishing rods and means for reasonably securing a fishing tackle/ seat box thereto.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows the side elevation of the fishing station in the open/operable position.
Figure 3 shows a view on arrow "A".
Figure 2 illustrates the fishing station in its closed/folded state.
Figure 4 illustrates the fishing station as it would be used when transporting fishing rod/rods, pressure lamp and tackle/seat box prior to starting to fish.
Figure 5 shows the fishing station static and in use. Tackle/seat box, fishing rods are in use and a pressure lamp are all attached to the unit.
Figure 6 illustrates the fishing station being used to retreat from an incoming tide with all tackle still attached. The fishing rods have line in the water, the fishing reels have their anti-reverse mechanisms disengaged allowing line to be released.
Referring to the drawings the mobile fishing station consists of a tubular and/or box section chassis, onto this chassis are fitted two wheels 21. Figure 2 shows the chassis in the folded position and Figure 1 shows it in the open or operable state. In this example of the invention the transformation from the state illustrated in Figure 2 to that illustrated in Figure 1 is by means of raising the part 22 from its lowered position in Figure 2, to its position as illustrated in Figure 1. The movement of 22 about its axis at 7 causes the Rods 6 to rise from its position in Figure 2 to its position in Figure 1. When 22 is in this position it is held there by means of a bolt, catch or similar means (not shown).
The movement of Rods 6 has the effect because of their attachment to the lower part of struts 23 and their attachment to the pivots at 8 and 9 of splaying apart the wheels 21. To collapse the chassis is the reverse of the above.
Support members are provided, 10, for the attachment of a tackle/seat box, this is accomplished by means of pipe clamps, elasticated ropes or some other means (not shown).
Once the chassis is in the open state the next step is to extend the chassis height. This is accomplished by means of either inserting 17 into 22 (the outside dimension of 17 being less than the inside dimension of 22), or by having 17 telescope out from 22 in sections. 17 is then held in position by spring clip, bolt, R-ring or similar means (now shown). Toward the upper end of 17 is fixed a hook of sufficient strength to support a pressure lamp, this hook being of adequte dimensions and profile so as to allow said lamp to remain in its position when 17 is lowered about the axis of the centre of wheels 21. The brackets 1 and 4 are provided to support the fishing rods.
4 are blanked off sections of pipe or similar and have the facility of being adjustable along 22 and 17 by means of a locking mechanism, a bolt or similar (not shown).
Two fine wire hooks are provided 20 to enable spare fishing traces to be baited and hung ready for use.
Claims (6)
1. A mobile fishing station consisting of a wheeled chassis, means for reasonably securing a seat/tackle box and the provision to support up to two fishing rods.
2. A mobile fishing station as claimed in Claim 1 that is able by means of lowering the position of its upper most point, raise the tackle box clear of the ground and allow it to be wheeled to a new position.
3. A mobile fishing station as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein by means of releasing the anti-reverse mechanism on the fishing reel/reels, fishing line can be relased from the reel/reels as the fishing station is wheeled to a new position.
4. A mobile fishing station as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2 and Claim 3 wherein by means of a hook on which to support a lamp it is possible to reposition the fishing station without the need to remove the lamp.
5. A mobile fishing station as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2, Claim 3 and
Claim 4 where provision is made for the securing of unassembled fishing rods to its chassis for their transportation to the fishing venue.
6. A mobile fishing station as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein it has the facility to be folded for storage/transportation.
