Figure.iO. showing full detail of the creative border easel, with exploded view of masking and border workings.
Referring to the drawings, Fig 1.comprising the enlarger column and base, 10.with creative easel 12,and the door 14. we have a easel base no 20.holding the creative mirror and platform 16,and 18. the creative easel frame is made on adjustments to 28, and 32,wing nuts. the movement is made in the continuous grove,30.the pivot to the frame is made on 13.and the easel door pivots on Fig 2.38.with creative door retaining the unexposed paper in Figi 40.you can adjust the mirror platform on the bevelled groves 26,also on a linear path by a continuous galvanized steel rod. lithe degree of angle is governed by the movement of the platform stay,24.
The degree of angle and movement to the copper backed mirror is made by bending the mirror to the desired effect on the elasticated double sided tape,37.By adjusting the enlarger head height and lowering it.the image can be created.lO.lhe creative door,14.as an opaque screen fixed in the external rebate on the door, fig.4. 17. together with door handle Fig 4,21.and magnetic catch, Fig 2.34.and buffer point for catch,Fig2 41.
The creative door easel frame,as a clear sheet of perspex at the rear of the easel fixed in with the aluminium metal surround, Fig 4.27.metal surround 12.
the easel frame as a iOmm plywood cutout surround to retain border masks and grain screens, Fig 4.15. the plywood aperture is then lined with iOmm box channel.
Fig 5. 19.To retain the unexposed material,we have to retain it on the inside of the creative door, Fig.40.
and Fig, 6.40.
The photographic apparatus can be used with most colour or monochrome enlarger heads on the present market today, the apparatus as the means of creating an image through or by an enlarger head, or by slide projector or by,or with back projection,Ftg ss.39.method.
The user does not have to be technical minded to use this apparatus,as anyone in the photographic darkroom area, The user would be of a type, like a photographer, a well informed amateur photographer, a or possibly a professional photographer, or other well informed persons. To start to create, and expose an image we must start to assemble, and to prepare the apparatus.
To assemble, place the easel on the enlarger base, Fig 1.
10, the enlarger easel head should be raised to the top of the column, Fig1.10.
The creative easel base Figl.20.now raise the easel frame, 12. and door, 14. then connect the adjustable stays 28. to 30. with the wing nuts 32,now you can raise the mirror platform 16.until the leg 24 rests in the bevelled grooves,26.
you now have to decide whether you are going to have a creative border after making your first image, if so you will have to put a border mask in the creative easel frame recess, Fig S.19.Example,say we are using a mask in the recess, first we will have to decide the type of paper to use, and secondary the type of image,on what film, slide or colour negative, or monochrome negative.
When you have decided, place it in the enlarger head, fig. 1. 10. swItch off the room light, and the put on the enlarger timer, adjusting the column height, moving the flexible mirror,Flg.1.18.you will possibly have to adjust main easel frame,Fig.1.12.with the door closed, you can now create your image to your liking. At this point,it is recommend not to have the enlarger lamp on for more than 180 seconds you decided on the exposure time, filtration required. we about ready to expose the image.
SWITCH ON THE ROOM LIGHT. now pull down the creative door,Figi.i4.towards you be careful not to move the easel, place the black masking card face down into the continuous slots in the bottom and top of the door frame. SAY WE ARE USING POSITIVE PRINTING PAPER. first we must have paper at the ready, first we want a spare light prove box, or other safety place to place our paper after the first exposure. SWITCH OFF THE ROOM LIGHT. and no dark room light on, take a unexposed sheet of paper out of the bag. NOW WITH THE EMULSION facing away from you now CUT THE TOP RIGHT HAND CONE OFF. watch your fingers, now place the unexposed paper into the slots, on top of the black card, the emulsion should be facing the main easel frame, Fig 2.12.close the door to the magnetic catch, NOW SWITCH ON THE EXPOSURE TIMER.DONE. bring down the easel door, be careful when taking out the print from the easel door.
Now place it into a light prove box,or paper bag, NOW YOU CAN SWITCH ON THE MAIN ROOM LIGHT.
You will now have take the creative easel off the enlarger easel base,Fig1.10. you do not have to dismantle the creative apparatus, just placed out the way, so we can bring the creative border easel,Fig 10 onto the enlarger base. Place border easel so as tie 25mm hinged flap is on the right, under the main enlarger head, Fig1 10. we require the enlarger head raised to full height, now take out of the enlarger head carrier the colour slide we have been using, switch off the the main room light, and put your monochrome dark room light on, you can see better. Now switch the enlarger timer on ,so as the ray of light covers all the creative border easel.
you have a creative border mask Fig.10.46.with a glass surround this is so you can create the borders in, fine lace pattern Fig.10.44. which is then transparent tape over.At this point it is a good idea to try a blank sheet of paper in the border,Fig.10.42.the paper drops in a well system, the blanking off easel strip.Fig i0.47.this will blank the piece with the corner off,and you can try the Image blank easel,Figi0.43. with the handle, Figi0.45.Wlien you have tried all this,we can print the borders. Tests can be carried out to see what exposures, and creativity, you require.
Place the creative easel handy as this will be picked up in the Dark. Then with the main light off take your undeveloped print out of the safe,or bag.lt does not matter if you touch the main easel in the dark as you are dropping the print in the well, with the corner off on the right hand bottom corner, now fold the flap down with care, now pick up the creative border mask and place it in the well to the left of the strip, guidIng it in the the with the left hand, by felling for the well edge.EXPOSE THE BORDERS.now lift the main easel out.FigiO.with handle.also lift edge of blanking mask on right. You can now take the print out of the easel where the blank corner was cut off, place into a developing drum.YOU CAN NOW SWITCH THE LIGHTS ON.
Develope the print in the normal way, there is no nead to use any special developing techniques only the manufactures.
FIG 8.with no 11.13.16.24.26.31.32.39.and Fig 1.14, closed opaque screen. The easel is now in a position, for rear slide projection of one or more.
The image is then created through the opaque screen, and copied onto film, via a camera, and possibly using grain screen in the the creative opaque door,Fig1.14.t 40. or any other screen, which is transparent.
You will notice that the creative mirror.Fig 1.18.
as two extra adjustment holes Fig 3.35.to alter the apparatus in the vertical mode with the mirror platform Fig B.16.dropped on the top of the wood bevelled groves. Fig 3.16L26.
