Abstract

An exercising weight comprises a cranked bar, two weight stands each provided with a stub bar and two pins to connect the bar and the stands. The device enables the exerciser to exercise in safety alone.

Description

SAFETY BENCH PRESS 1. The Safety Bench Press comes in three parts. Two weight A standsB and a top barC. There are also two key pins.
2. The plate at the bottom of the weights stands is metal and welded to the upright to keep it standing up and hold the weights in place.
3. To use. Place the weight stands either side of your bench. Then put the weights that you wish to lift onto the stands.
4. You then pick up the top bar and sit on the bench. Lay down with the bar ready to locate it onto the stands.
5. Lower the bar onto the weight stands. Pull the bar down until it is just touching your chest. You then push a key pin through the end of the bar and through the weight stands on either side. This makes the three pieces into one unit. You are now able to bench press safely on your own.
6. You push the bar upwards in the normal bench press exercise. As you lower the bar to your chest, the bottom of the weight stands just touch the floor. Using the Safety Bench Press enables you to exercise alone without danger. Normally bench pressing alone means that you are not able to use much weight because you have to manipulate the bar onto your chest to begin with. The Safety Bench Press enables you to use as much weight as you like. When you have finished the exercise you simply pull out the key pins on either side and lift the bar out of the way.

Claims (1)

  1. A weight lifting device consisting of a main bar, two free standing weight stands and two key pins which are means for joining the other three parts together. The key pin goes right through a hole in the main bar and one in the weight stand. Once joined together the whole device becomes free standing and does not have to have any part of your body or other apparatus to enable it to do so.
If the device is dropped whilst in use it will not fall onto the user. The weight stands will hit the ground first and prevent the bar from hitting the users body.
The bar and weight stands have many holes drilled through them at small distances apart so that when joining the device together it can be adjusted to varying heights for different sized users The device is used with 'free weights' a term describing weights that are loose and can be taken on and off by hand.
