Abstract

The portable game and quiz buzzer unit supplies each of four teams or indviduals with a switch, which when pushed first, disconnects all other teams or individuals switches, allowing identification of that particular team or individual of the fact that they were the first to respond or complete their task. Although one such unit allows four teams or individuals to so respond, simply plugging additional units together increases the number of contestants by four each time a unit is added.

Description

This Invention relates to a portable game and quiz buzzer unit.
It has become a very popular pastime for families, friends arid teams to play quizes and other games requiring an indication of whom was first to complete a task or answer a question. In general contestants have to shout to indicate that they know the answer or have completed the task in question. This system is often difficult to ascertain whether one was before another and many arguments can ensue.
With this invention, due to electronic circuits, the moment of descision can be suspended and can allow all involved to see whom was first to reply. A buzzer indicates that a person or team is ready to reply or has finished his/her task and a lamp is illuminated to indicate which team or person pressed their appropriate button first.
Figure 1. shows the plan of the unit. When any of the buttons 1,2,3 or 4 is pressed the lamps 5,6,7 or 8 (immediately above the appropriate switch) will illuminate and a buzzer will sound.
It is a feature of the unit that as soon as a button is pressed all other buttons and their lamps become ineffective and therefore only the first team or individual, illuminates their lamp. There is also the added facility to add satellite switches in order that players further away from the unit may compete. This is indicated by figure 2. The switch boxes 9. are connected to the main unit via cables 10. through sockets in the ends of the unit. Although the unit ordinarily is powered by batteries there is the facility for an external power supply. Another feature of the invention is the ability to connect additional units together to expand the number of contestants or teams.
