Abstract

In a combined rucksack and tent the tent wall material is normally retained folded within the rucksack but when unfolded forms a tent which encloses the rucksack so that its contents are accessible from inside the tent. The tent is normally concealed by a zipped flap which also covers other tent components such as a supporting pole.

Description

INTEGRATED RUCKSACK/TENT SYSTEM The invention relates to a rucksack and tent.
Rucksacks and tents are well known items of equiptment used in a variety of outdoor activities.
According to the present invention there is provided an integrated rucksack and tent system comprising of a 55 litre rucksack, incorporating a lightweight backpacking tent. In operation the rucksack is pegged down and the main body of the tent extracted from a sealed compartment within the front of the rucksack. The tent is zipped into the rucksack, pegged down and supported by a single flexipole at one end. The frame of the rucksack supplies support at the other end. The rucksack is left enclosed within the tent, with the contents of the rucksack accessible from inside the tent via a zipped flap in the rucksack.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the rucksack when in operation as a rucksack with the tents main body enclosed inside.
Figure 2 illustrates the main body of the tent being extruded from its sealed compartment within the front of the rucksack, and the zipped flap which allows access to the contents of the rucksack once inside the tent.
Figure 3 shows the tent zipped into the rucksack and being pegged out. Also the location of pole and guy ropes.
Referring to the drawings the product consists of a rucksack and tent, integrated into a single system.
In order to pitch the tent when required the rucksack is stood upright on the floor and pegged down at points 1. and 2.
securing the rucksack in position. Pegs and guy rope are stored in zipped compartment 3. The zipped flap 4. is then undone to reveal the main body of the tent 5. plus flexipole and pegs 6. The main body of the tent is zipped into the rucksack at point 7. on the diagram 1. The flexipole inserted 8. and the tent is then pegged out.
The rucksack is now enclosed within the tent. The contents of the rucksack can be accessed from inside the tent via zipped flap 9. The frame of the rucksack 10. forms support for the tent at the opposite end to that of the flexipole support 8.
To pack away the tent for use as a rucksack, the above steps are carried out in reverse sequence.

Claims (5)

1. An integrated rucksack and tent system comprising of a 55 litre rucksack, incorporating a lightweight backpacking tent. In operation the rucksack is pegged down and the main body of the tent extracted from a sealed compartment within the front of the rucksack. The tent is zipped into the rucksack, pegged out and supported by a single flexipole at one end. The frame of the rucksack supplies support at the other end. The rucksack is left enclosed within the tent, with the contents of the rucksack accessible from inside the tent via a zipped flap in the rucksack.
2. An integrated rucksack/tent as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the frame of the rucksack functions as a tent pole.
3. An integrated rucksack/tent as claimed in Claim 1 and 2 wherin the main body of the tent and rucksack zip into each other, concealing the rucksack within the tent.
4. An integrated rucksack/tent as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein the main body of the tent is stored in a compartment in the front of the rucksack.
5. An integrated rucksack/tent as claimed in any preceeding claim, wherein the contents of the rucksack can be packed and unpacked from inside the tent via a zipped flap.
