Abstract

A board unit comprises an array of holes (2) and can be interlocked with neighbouring boards by means of tags (4) and recesses (3). A plurality of game pieces (5) each comprise a peg to insert in the holes and wall means which can extend towards neighbouring pieces. The wall means can be arrow head shaped. <IMAGE>

GAME PLAYING BOARD & PIECES This invention relates to a playing board and player pieces.

Small leisure games suitable for travel purposes often only have several game possibilities and to enable users to expand games possible may involve having to carry along more than one game set.

According to the present invention there is provided a playing board and many player pieces, comprising a square playing board, with small holes set equally spaced from board edges with rows of holes alternately spaced so that the board is filled with equally spaced holes on a horizontal, vertical and diagonal axis; with player pieces of different colours that can be inserted into any hole, & allowing player pieces to rotate 360 degrees; of a size that when inserted into board hole on a horizontal or vertical axis player piece can abutt another player piece; or if piece rotated onto a diagonal axis it will abutt another player piece; and that the playing board has brackets and flanges along the four edges.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows playing board and examples of different player pieces.

FIGURE 2 shows playing boards forming three dimensional cube and larger playing board, layed out flat.

The playing board 1 has small holes 2 set equally spaced from board edges with rows of holes alternately spaced so that the board is filled with equally spaced holes on a horizontal,vertical and diagonal axis.

The holes can accept player pieces 5 so that piece is held once inserted onto the board and may rotate 360 degrees. The player pieces are of a length so that when inserted on a horizontal, vertical or diagonal axis, pieces can abutt to another player piece, so that pieces can be placed to make straight lines on a horizontal, vertical or diagonal axis. Thus pieces of a same colour can make a variety of lines and shapes.

With various amounts of different coloured player pieces, players take turns to make shapes, letters, numbers, symbols, stright lines, stepped lines and other forms across the board surface; each being a different game.

By using other types of player pieces, such as arrowhead example piece, the game - playing board with a variety of player pieces, as a set; can provide a multiple of games using a single playing board.

The playing board brackets 3 can accept flanges 4 to interlock playing boards together, to make three dimensional shapes 6 enabling player pieces in use on all surfaces; or playing boards being joined together, layed flat 7, to create larger and different shaped playing boards.

The playing board(s) and player pieces can be manufactured out of wood, card or plastic materials; with single board manufacture only. Capable of being used together so that a set can be packed small enough for travel purposes while being large enough for home or other uses.

5 A playing board and many player pieces as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2 or Claim 5 or Claim 4 where a single playing board manufactured as a universal board item can be used with other sucn playing boards to create many larger playing boards either ilat layed or in three dimensional snapes, so that a single playing board only need be made and supplied in a set.
