Abstract
The Magnetic Nail Lifter has a plastic slip-on handle 1, a hollow-tube aluminium shaft 2, and a nylon-coated magnetic base 3. The Magnetic Nail Lifter is used as an effective method of clearing surfaces of unwanted nails which are difficult to see and retrieve, and which otherwise would be hazardous, in particular to tyres, children, and livestock. Unlike sweeping with a brush or broom, the Magnetic Nail Lifter does not rely require the user to see all the nails to ensure that all nails are collected. <IMAGE>
Description
MAGNETIC NAIL LIFTER
This invention relates to a Magnetic Nail Lifter.
Dropped nails are hazardous, in particular to tyres, children and livestock, and are difficult to see and retrieve.
The reason for the invention is the need for an effective way to clear surfaces of unwanted nails.
Sweeping with a brush or broom is unreliable and is dependent on the users eyesight to ensure all nails are collected.
The Magnetic Nail Lifter allows effective retrieval of hazardous nails and can be used from an upright posture.
The invention is a Magnetic Nail Lifter comprising of a plastic handle, a hollow-tube aluminium shaft, and a nylon-coated magnetic base.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows a side elevation.
Figure 2 shows a rotated front elevation.
Figure 3 shows a front elevation.
Figure 4 shows a top elevation of the base.
Figure 5 shows a bottom elevation of the base.
Figure 6 shows a side elevation of the base.
Referring to the drawing, the Magnetic Nail Lifter comprises of a plastic slip-on handler on a hollow-tube aluminium shaft 2, secured to the base 3 by inserting the shaft 2 into the location point 4 and securing with a spring keeper inserted through a suitable hole in the shaft 2 and then through a suitable hole in the location point 4.
The plastic slip-on handle 1 will be 15cm. long. The hollow-tube aluminium shaft 2 will be 1 OOcm in length, the diameter will be 1 8mum, and the wall thickness of the hollow-tube will be
Imm.
The shaft 2 and the base 3 meet at an angle of approximately 70 degrees as shown in Figure 1 for ease of use.
The base 3 consists of a nylon moulded coat over a magnet 5.The magnet 5 will be 43cm.
long, 4.5cm. wide, and 1cm. deep.
The depth of the nylon on the top elevation Figure 4 will be approximately 8mm. deep. The depth of the nylon on the sides of the base Figure 6 will be approximately 3mm. deep. The depth of the nylon on the bottom of the base Figure 6 will be approximately 2mm. deep to allow the magnet to work but also to ensure the magnet is protected from damage.
To use the Magnetic Nail Lifter the operator holds the handle 1 and lightly skims the base 3 over the required area.
Claims (5)
- A A Magnetic Nail Lifter comprising of a plastic slifron handle, a hollow-tube aluminium shaft, and a nylon-coated magnetic base
- 2 A Magnetic Nail Lifter as claimed in Claim 1, whereby the plastic handle is attached by slipping it over the top end of the hollow-tube aluminium shaft.
- 3 A Magnetic Nail Lifter as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, whereby the hollow-tube aluminium shaft and the nylon-coated magnetic base are secured together by a spring keeper inserted through a suitable hole in the bottom end of the shaft and through a suitable hole in the location point in the nylon base.
- 4 A Magnetic Nail Lifer as claimed in Claims 1, 2 and 3, whereby the hollow-tube aluminium shaft and the nylon-coated magnetic base are connected at an angle of approximately 70 degrees.
- 5 A Magnetic Nail Lifter as claimed in Claims 1,2,3 and 4 of which the base is a magnet suspended in a protective nylon coating.
