Abstract
To provide reversible sealing of the tube 32, 34, a device is incorporated between the ends of the tube which has a plunger 18 with a soft rubber foot 26 which can be pushed in to the tube cross-section, to block the tube. After a fibre or fibres 36 have been passed along the tube, the plunger is pushed in to form a seal across the tube cross-section and around the fibre. The plunger is normally retained by a collet in the pushed in position, but can be withdrawn from its gas blocking position by activating a release mechanism 28. <IMAGE>
