Description
FRAME STRUCTURE OF A WASHING MACHINE
The present invention relates to a washing machine and particularly the frame structure of a washing machine.
Conventionally, the external structure of a fully automatic one-tub washing machine is formed as follows.
First, a external frame main body, a front panel and side panels are formed by synthetic resin material for example or the like as one body. Next, a top cover, a lid and a control panel are attached to the opening at the top of the body. Finally, a rear panel is attached to the rear opening of the body in order to form an external box.
Electric components such as a variety of control switches and IC boards are mounted on the control panel.
Among the IC boards, there are boards functioning by powersupply voltage for example 100V and by low-voltage together, but conventionally, these two types of the IC boards are formed to a single structure and disposed on the control panel.
At the time of repair or maintenance of electric components such as IC boards, the rear panel must be removed before the control panel is removed, thereby an efficiency of work becomes lower. Particularly when a dryer is disposed over a washing machine to form home laundry, if columns for supporting the dryer are attached to the rear part of the external box of the washing machine, these columns must be removed before repair or maintenance of the electric components, thereby needing a large amount of man-hour.
If the board functioning by power-supply voltage is mounted on a position which facilitates maintenance separately from the low-voltage board, it is necessary to cover the board functioning by power-supply voltage with a metallic cover or the like in order to secure the safety, thereby making the structure of the machine complicated.
Conventionally, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No.4-197295 has disclosed such a structure in which an opening is provided on the front side of the external frame of a washing machine and a front cover is attached to the opening on the front side of the external frame. Although such conventional machine enables the improvement of the work efficiency related to maintenance and repair, the safety in case mounting the board functioning by powersupply voltage separately from the low-voltage board is not taken into account.
Accordingly, in views of the aforementioned problems of the conventional machines, an object of the present invention is to provide an external frame structure which enables the work efficiency of maintenance and repair to be improved when a board functioning by power-supply voltage is mounted separately from a low-voltage board and which is capable of securing the safety without attaching any special metallic cover.
To attain the aforementioned object, according to the present invention, in the external frame structure of a washing machine in which a panel is detachably attached to the opening of the external frame body, a mounting plate having a storage indentation portion for containing a board functioning by power-supply voltage is integrally formed on the external frame structure so that the mounting plate protrudes from the aforementioned external frame body towards the opening. The mounting box for the board functioning by power-supply voltage is formed by means of a panel for covering the aforementioned opening and of the mounting plate disposed on the external frame body.
With the present invention, in the external frame of a washing machine, the panel functions as the lid for the storage indentation portion for the board functioning by power-supply voltage because the panel covers the opening of the external frame body having the mounting plate. Therefore, a mounting box for the board functioning by power-supply voltage is formed by the storage indentation portion and the panel. Then, the board functioning by power-supply voltage is surrounded by the mounting plate having the storage indentation portion and the panel. Accordingly, it is not necessary to provide any special mounting box.
The opening, in which the mounting plate for the board functioning by power-supply voltage is disposed, may be located on the front or the side of the structure.
Thus, because the opening in which the mounting plate for the board functioning by power-supply voltage is disposed, is provided on either the, front or the side of the machine. In case the washing machine is combined with a dryer to form home laundry, it ie possible to remove only the panel for closing the opening without removing columns supporting the dryer, thereby facilitating maintenance work.
Both the panel for covering the opening and the external frame body may be made of metal.
Thus, by forming both the panel for closing the opening and the external frame body of metal material, it is possible to surround the board functioning by powersupply voltage with metallic members, so that the safety can be secured without any special metallic cover.
The invention will be further described by way of non-limitative example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a disassembly perspective view of an embodiment of the external frame structure of a washing machine according to the present invention.
Figure 2 is a front view of the mounting plate which is a major part showing an embodiment of the external frame structure of a washing machine according to the present invention.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 is a disassembly perspective view showing an embodiment of the external frame structure of a washing machine according to the present invention.
Figure 2 is a front view of the mounting plate for the board functioning by power-supply voltage for example 100V which is a major part of the external frame structure of a washing machine according to the present invention.
Explaining the overall composition of the washing machine, a water tub 2 is disposed in an external box 1 and a washing/drying tub 3 is disposed inside the water tub 2. A top cover 5 having a lid 4 is mounted on an opening on the top of the external box 1. A rear electric component panel 6 is disposed on the rear portion of the top cover 5 and a front electric component panel 7 is disposed on the front portion thereof. In this case, the rear electric component panel contains a water supply valve, a water level sensor, a safety switch and so on, and the front electric component panel 7 contains the low-voltage board.
The external box 1 comprises metallic panels which cover opening 9 formed around the external frame body 8 made of metal and at least either a front panel 10 or a side panel 11 (front panel 10 shown in the Figure) is detachably attached to the external frame body 8.
A mounting plate 13 having a storage indentation portion 12 for containing a board functioning by powersupply voltage for example lOOV is disposed on the external frame body 8 to which the front panel 10 is detachably attached, so that the mounting plate 13 protrudes from the aforementioned external frame body 8 toward the opening 9.
The board mounting box for the board functioning by powersupply voltage for example lOOV is formed by means of the front panel 10 for covering the opening 9 and the mounting plate 13 disposed on the external frame body 8.
As described above, by containing the board functioning by power-supply voltage for example lOOV within the storage indentation portion 12 and then closing the opening 9 with the front panel 10 to be attached to the external frame body 8, the front panel 10 functions as a lid for storage indentation portion 12 for the board functioning by power-supply voltage for example lOOV.
Thus, the board functioning by power-supply voltage for example lOOV is surrounded by the mounting plate 13 having the storage indentation portion 12 and the front panel 10 in order to form a mounting box.
Because the front panel 10 and the external frame body 8 are made of metal, the safety of the board functioning by power-supply voltage for example lOOV is secured.
Maintenance of the board functioning by power-supply voltage for example lOOV, or the like is facilitated only by removing the front panel 10.
Further, the board functioning by power supply voltage for example 100V is disposed behind the front panel 10 and the top thereof is covered with the top cover 5, so that no washing water enters this portion, thereby achieving protection from water.
As described above, the external frame of a washing machine is structured so that the panel for covering the opening in the external frame body having the mounting plate functions as the lid for the storage indentation portion for the board functioning by power-supply voltage so as to form a mounting box. Then, the board functioning by power-supply voltage is surrounded by the mounting plate having the storage indentation portion and the panel.
Therefore it is not necessary to provide any special mounting box.
A second advantage of this arrangement is that by providing the opening in which the mounting plate for the board functioning by power-supply voltage is disposed so as to protrude on either the front or the side of the machine, even if the washing machine is combined with a dryer to form home laundry, it is possible to remove only the panel for closing the opening without removing columns supporting the dryer, thereby facilitating maintenance work.
A third advantage of this arrangement is that by forming both the panel for closing the opening and the external frame body of metal material, it is possible to surround the board functioning by power-supply voltage with metallic members, so that the safety can be secured without any special metallic cover.
