Abstract
The flashing trim 1 is intended for building into a structure to provide a housing 2 for the subsequent insertion of a flashing/weathering. Once the flashing/weathering is inserted into the trim, and secured by the barbs 4 it requires no further fixings. When the flashing trim is used in conjunction with a damp proof membrane, it provides a means of achieving the correct positioning of the damp proof membrane, in relation to the flashing/weathering. <IMAGE>
Description
Statement of Novelty
The features of the design for which novelty is claimed are, the shape, configuration and pattern applied to the article as shown in the representation.
FLASHING TRIM FOR BUILDINGS
This invention relates to a flashing or weathering trim.
Fitting a flashing or weathering into a structure has a history of failure, particularly when used in conjunction with a damp proof membrane.
A damp proof course is an established and traditional element used in the constructions of buildings and other structures.
Its function is to prevent or control the path of water, and or mositure, through parts of the construction.
The damp proof course is intended to perform as follows:
1. The damp proof membrane emits water/moisture from
within the structure.
2. The flashing or weathering prevents the ingress of
water from external elements.
Because these components are introduced at different stages of construction, and normally undertaken by various trades, the correct positioning of these components is difficult to achieve.
The present invention is a flashing trim.
It is intended to provide an interface, between a flashing/weathering and a damp proof membrane and locate those components within a construction joint.
Figure 1. Shows in section the profile of the trim.
Figure 2. Shows the features of the design.
Referring to the drawing Fig.2, on Sheet 2 of 2
The base plate 1 is set horizontally on the bed joint.
The turned edge of the flashing/weathering, is inserted in the housing at 2.
The stop 3, ensures alignment with the face of the structure.
The flashing or weathering is retained in the housing by the barbs shown at 4.
A mortar key is provided by the holes shown at 5.

Claims (6)
- CLAIMS 1. A flashing or weathering trim for locating the components within a construction joint.
- 2. A flashing or weathering trim as claimed in 1, wherein holes are provided in the base as a mortar key.
- 3. A flashing or weathering trim as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein alignment is established by the stop at the front face.
- 4. A flashing or weathering trim as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein a housing is provided to receive a flashing or weathering.
- 5. A flashing or weathering trim as claimed in Claim 3 or Claim 4 wherein the flashing or weathering is retained by barbs.
- 6. A flashing or weathering trim substantially as described herein, with reference to figures 1 - 5 sheets 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 of the accompanying drawings.
