Abstract

A splined connection between a component such as a universal joint inner member (10) in the form of a sleeve, and a component such as a shaft fitting within the sleeve and having a splined torque transmitting connection therewith, has at least one circumferentially extending portion of the component (10) without splines in its interior, and in such portion (18) the minimum radial dimension of the component, between the interior and exterior thereof, is greater than the minimum such dimension which would exist in the portion (18) if the splines were continued in such portion. <IMAGE>
