Abstract

The detachable shower arm 10 allows the user to achieve an overhead, all over shower without having to re-plumb his/her existing wall mounted shower system. The flexible plastic construction is approximately 18 inches long with a standard 'male' shower attachment at one end 14 and a 'female' attachment at the other 11. The latter is an adjustable attachment in order to achieve various positions/angles for the user. <IMAGE>

Description

THE DETACHABLE SHOWER ARM This invention relates to a detachable shower arm.
Wall mounted shower systems are widely used and comprise of a wall bracket and shower attachment into which the shower head is placed. The system is usually located in the bath and has a height adjustment facility.
However, the shower head is often positioned too close to the wall. This means the user cannot always achieve an all over body shower without a) leaning forward/standing off-balance to get under the flow of water or b) unhooking the shower head and manually using shower head to achieve a satisfying shower.
This is a particular problem when the shower system is fitted at the curved end of the bath - the user cannot get near enough to the water flow.
According to the present invention, the detachable Shower Arm acts as an extension to the traditional shower head. Its purpose will be to provide a more satisfying and effortless shower by positioning the shower head directly above the user. It comprises of a flexible ribbed plastic rod, approximately 18inches in length, and a standard shower grip/clamp at each end. One end is attached to the wall mounted shower bracket whilst the other end houses the shower head itself. This 'female' attachment is adjustable so that the shower head can be positioned at various angles.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows, in perspective, the shower arm in use within a typical wall mounted shower system; Figure 2 shows a second useful application of the invention; and Figure 3 represents an example of the detachable shower arm.
Referring to Fig. 1, the detachable shower arm 10 has been slotted into the original shower head holder 11. The shower head 12 has been slotted into the shower arm's holder 13. The result - the user benefits from an overhead, and evenly distributed, water flow.
In addition to providing a more satisfying all over shower, the detachable shower arm can be used to hold the shower head at other useful positions, for example, when washing feet (see Fig. 2). This will enable the user to enjoy a 'hands free' and safer position for those more difficult to reach areas.
The detachable shower arm 10 will comprise of a flexible plastic rod with standard 'male' 14 and 'female' 13 attachments at each end (see Fig. 3). The latter end is adjustable to facilitate various positions/angles for the user.

Claims (3)

1. The detachable shower arm acts as an extension to the traditional shower head. It comprises a flexible ribbed plastic rod, of approximately 18 inches, and standard shower 'male' and 'female' attachments at each end. One end is attached to the wall mounted shower bracket whilst the other end houses the shower head itself.
2. A detachable shower arm as described in claim 1 wherein an adjustable shower head attachment at one end facilitates various positions/angles for the user.
3. The detachable shower arm substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawings.
