Abstract
A flexible sheet has E.C.G. connecting leads enclosed within the sheet to a point close to their desired anatomical destination and then free to the exact point of contact. It can be rolled up for storage. The leads are labelled at their point of exit from the sheet. <IMAGE>
Description
Patent application for E.C.G. Connection Device.
E.C.G.s are widely used in medicine for giving a graphical display of the electrial activity of the heart.The machine is connected to the human body by means of wire conducting leads and strapped,stuck or suckered electrodes.
E.C.G. leads however commonly become mixed up and tangled.
Time is frequently wasted untangling the leads before an E.C.G.
reading may be taken.In addition a person who is not familiar with taking an E.C.G. reading may be unsure as to which lead goes to which part of the human body leading to an incorrect reading or time lost while reference is made to an instruction manual.
According to the present invention there is provided a device in the shape of a flat flexible sheet which contains and displays the E.C.G. leads such that they lie (when the sheet is open) in the correct anatomical position for use.The leads are enclosed in the sheet to a point where they are close to the area of desired body contact.At this point the leads leave the sheet to run free to the exact point of contact.
The title of this invention is an "E.C.G. Bodymat" but is
referred to in this application simply as the connecting device.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which;
Figure 1: shows the essential features of the device
as described above.
Figure 2: shows the device as it would lie on top of
a person.
Figure 3: shows a possible type of construction although
the exact type of construction is not essential
to the concept of the invention.Here an
insulated wire is held and runs between two
pressed plastic sheets.
Figure 4: shows how the device would roll up for storage.
Concerning these drawings;
(a)The final method of manufacture is not
determined and is not part of the invention.
(b)The exact dimensions of the device are not
defined here.They could be decided by
ergometric analysis of human body sizes.
Nevertheless the broad proportions are helpfull
for the use intended.
(c)The device will have printed on it at the
point of exit of the lead from the device
the "name" of the lead and the desired point
of anatomical contact.
Claims (3)
1.An E.C.G. connecting device comprising conduction wires enclosed within a sheet for most of their course , laid out in appropriate directions , then running free for a short distance to the point of body contact.
2.A connecting device as claimed in Claim 1 which is flexible allowing it to folded and rolled such as to enable storage and transportion then unrolled to be used.
3.A connecting device as claimed in claims 1 and 2 which when unrolled displays labels describing the name and destination of each wire.
