Abstract

A fold over computer disc packaging device for sending by mail, courier or other such methods a world standard computer disc is formed from one single sheet of corrugated card. The card is folded into three sections 1, 2, 3 one of which has an aperture 6 of shape and size to accommodate the computer disc. The fold over computer disc mailer has printed text (Disc Mailer - address and postage stamp panel on the front and sender's address panel and manufacturer's details on the reverse) on the outer sides which identifies it as a computer disc packaging device. <IMAGE>

Description

Fold Over Computer Disc Mailer This invention relates to a fold over computer disc mailer constructed from a single sheet of corrugated card A package specially designed to contain a 'world standard' (see notes to fig 1) computer disc is a relatively new concept. There are packages based on the letter envelope design but this design differs in that it is constructed from one purpose formed sheet of corrugated card.
According to the present invention there is provided a single sheet of corrugated card which is divided into three sections (2, 3, 4 see fig 1) by two folds (6, 12 see fig 1) The thickness of the card can vary and this will alter the overall dimensions to a small degree, but does not change the basicfold over three section concept. (1 = 140mum, 2 = 120mm, 3 = 120mm, 4 = 120mm, 5 = 370mm) Sections (2, 3, see fig 1) occupy the same area and dimensions. Section (4 see figl) differs slightly by the fact that its area has cut through it an aperture large enough to accommodate a .world standard size computer disc (8 = 95mm, 9 = 90.8 mm, 10 = 85 mm, 11 = 89 mm seefigi).
The folds (6 = 8mm z 1.5 mm & 12 = Smm i 1.5mm see figl) allow the surface area of section (1 see fig 2) to come into contact with the surface area of section (2 see fig 2). A world standard computer disc can then be inserted into the recessed aperture (1 into 2 see fig 2) by only one possible orientation dictated by a ogled nick (13 see fig 1) which corresponds to a similar nick which appears on a world stand computer disc.
Once the computer dise is inserted into the recessed aperture section (6 see fig 3) and (4 see fig 4) can be folded to come into contact with section (3 see fig 3 & 4). The fold over disc mailer is then stuck securely in position by the application of a strip of double sided adhesive tape or similar (5 see fig 3)

  1. Claims Whefold over computer disc mailer provides a robust andsecure device/method for storing, despatching by post or similer a world standard computer disc. The fold over computer disc mailer is inexpensive to produce/purchase and can be re-usable.
