Abstract

A transportable ball target with a fibrous cloth held taught allows a hollow plastic ball with two strips of hook fastener glued to it at ninety degrees to each other to be propelled at the target and to stick on to the target and enable a person to analyse in which direction the ball was propelled. The backdrop and ball can also be used with the addition of centre section replacements with a variety of designs to aim at. The target is supported by plastics coated steel poles and its size may be varied. <IMAGE>

Description

TRANSPORTABLE TARGET AND BALL THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A TRANSPORTABLE TARGET AND BALL THE TRADITIONAL GOLF NET IS CONSTRUCTED USING A METEL FRAMEWORK WITH NETTING AND IS USED WITH SOLID GOLF BALLS. AFTER HITTING A SOLID GOLF BALL INTO THE NET IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KNOW IN WHICH DIRECTION THE GOLF BALL WAS PROPELLED UNLESS YOU MOVE YOUR HEAD TO WATCH THE BALL DURING THE SWING. THIS CAN LEAD TO ERRORS IN THE SWING. THE TRADITION AL GOLF NET IS OFTEN PERMANENTLY FIXED OR TOO LARGE AND HEAVY TO MOVE OR TRANSPORT ANYWHERE.
THE TRANSPORTABLE TARGET AND BALL COMPRISES OFA FIBROUS CLOTH HELD TAUGHT AND SUPPORTED BY PLASTIC COATED TUBULAR STEEL POLES AND A HOLLOW PLASTIC BALL WITH TWO STRIPS OF HOOK FASTENER GLUED TO IT AT NINETY DEGREES TO EACH OTHER. THE TENSION OF THE CLOTH AND ITS FIB - ROUS MAKE-UP ENABLES A HOOK-COATED BALL TO STICK TO THE CLOTH WHEN IT IS PROPELLED AT IT.
THE INVENTION WILL BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS WHICH FIGURE I SHOWS IN PERSPECTIVE THE FRAY YORK OF THE TARGET FIGURE 2 SHOWS THE SLEEVES IN THE MATERIAL INTO WHICH THE POLES FIT.
FIGURE 3 SHOWS THE INTERCHANGEABLE CENTRE SECTIONS.
FIGURE 4 SHOWS THE HOLLOW PLASTIC BALL WITH TWO STRIPS OF HOOK FAST ENER GLUED TO ITAT NINETY DEGREES TO EACH OTHER.
REFERRING TO THE DRAWING FIGURE I THE TARGET COMPRISES OF A FIBROUS CLOTH I HELD TAUGHT AND SUPPORTED BY POLES 2. THERE IS ONE PIECE OF CLOTH 7ITH SLEEVES SE';ET INTO THE MATERIAL TO ALLOW THE POLES TO SLIDE INTO THE CLOTH AS ILLUSTRATED IN FIGURE 2.
THE BALL, AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 4 IS A HOLLOW PLASTIC BALL ITH TWO STRIPS OF HOOK FASTENER GLUED TO IT AT NINETY DEGREES TO EACH OTHER TICH ENABLES IT TO STICK TO THE FIBROUS MATERIAL.
IN ORDER TO PROVIDE STABILITY FOR THE TARGET AND TO INCREASE THE TENSION OF THE CLOTH, GUIDE ROPES 3 MAY BE ATTACHED TO THH POLES AND SECURED TO THE GROUND BY PEGS 4.
THE POLES ARE CONSTRUCTED OF FLASTIC-COATED TUBULAR STEEL SO THAT THEY ARE LIGHTWEIGHT AND ARE RUST-PROOF. THE POLES HAVE A POINTED SHAFT WHICH ENABLE THE POLES TO BE DRIVEN INTO THE GROUND.
IN LOCATIONS WITH STALL AMOUNTS OF ROOM IT IS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE TARGET TO 13 OR 2/3 OF THE FULL SIZE BY USING ONLY ONE OR TWO OF THE THREE SECTIONS AVAILABLE. THIS IS SHOWN IN FIG 5 AND FIG6. THE UNUSED SECTION(S) IS ROLLED UP AROUND THE UNUSED POLE(S) AND PLACED ALONGSIDE THE POLES IN USE.
REPLACEMENT CENTRE SECTIONS MAY BE USED TO ALLOW AN ALTERNATIVE DESIGN FOR AIMING AT. A SMALLER PIECE OF FIBROUS CLOTH WITH FOUR CIRCULAR HOLLOW RINGS INSET INTO THE CORNERS OF THE CLOTH.THE RINGS CAN BE SLIPPED OVER BOTH THE BOTTOM AND TOP OF THE POLES TO COVER THE CENTR3- SECTION OF THE BACKDROP. THIS IS ILLUSTRATED IN FIG 3 FIGURE 7 ILLUSTRATES THE TARGET WITH 6 SECTIONS WHICH ALLOWS FOR TWO PEOPLE TO USE THE TARGET AT THE SANE TThtE.
FIGURE 8 ILLUSTRATES THE TARGET WITH 4 SECTIONS WHICH ALLOWS FOUR PEOPLE TO USE THE TARGET AT THE SAME TD v.
