Abstract

A lamp and frame arrangement (10) in which a frame (17) is removably located on a lamp base (11). Co-operable connectors (15, 16) in the form of slots and pegs are provided in the lamp base (11) and the base of the frame. <IMAGE>

Description

LAMP The present invention relates to a lamp, and more particularly but not exclusively to a table lamp.
It is conventional to place a lamp on an item of domestic furniture such as a table. Picture frames or mirrors may be placed next to the lamp. If many items are placed on the table the table top may be aesthetically unpleasing. Also there may be insufficient space to place tableware and beakers on the table top, particularly on small tabletops.
The present invention has been made from a consideration of this problem.
According to the present invention there is provided a lamp and a frame, wherein co-operable connectors are provided on the lamp and the frame in order that the frame may be mounted on the lamp.
The lamp provides illumination for the picture, mirror or the like located in the frame, thus highlighting its presence and providing a pleasing aesthetic effect.
The lamp may be operable to mount a plurality of such frames or one frame in a number of different positions. Ideally the frame is located on the base of the lamp. The co-operable connectors may comprise at least one peg which is locatable in an aperture or slot.
In order that the present invention may be more readily understood a specific embodiment thereof will now be described by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig.1 is a perspective view of one lamp stand in accordance with the invention; Fig.2 shows a frame being located in the base of the stand of Fig.1; and Fig.3 shows an alternative frame which may be located in the base of the lamp stand.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 a table lamp 10 comprises a base 11 on top of which a lampholder is located on a stand. A wire extends from the lampholder, through the stand and out of the base of the lamp in conventional fashion.
Two slots 15 are provided in the top face of the .base 11. These slots 15 are operable to slidingly receive correspondingly shaped and spaced apart pegs 16 provided on the lower face of a frame 17 for a mirror or picture. Thus one of a number of different frames may be located on the base and subsequently replaced with another frame. For example, the frame may have a hinged door 18 as shown in Fig.2 or may have a design 13 thereon, for example, as shown in Fig.3.
It is to be understood that the above described embodiment is by way of illustration only. Many modifications and variations are possible. For example, more than one set of slots may be provided on the lamp base. Any suitable number of slots or apertures may be provided on the base or frame for co-operation with a corresponding number of pegs in the frame or base respectively.

Claims (6)

1. A lamp and frame, wherein co-operable connectors are provided on the lamp and the frame in order that the frame may be mounted on the lamp.
2. A lamp and frame as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lamp is operable to mount said frame in any one of a number of different positions.
3. A lamp and frame as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the lamp is operable to mount a plurality of said frames.
4. A lamp and frame as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the frame is located on the base of the lamp.
5. A lamp and frame as claimed as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the co-operable connectors comprise at least one peg which is locatable in an aperture or slot.
6. A lamp and frame substantially as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings.
