Description
DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a child security alarm for use in shopping malls or other crowded areas where a child could get lost or kidnapped.
The principal aim is to prevent the kind of child snatching incidents that have been publicised lately, by making passers by aware that there is a child in distress, alerting the parent or guardian of a problem, easing the problem of locating the child, as as well as thwarting any kidnapping attempts.
The device also has applications in other less distressing circumstances, for example as a reminder to the child to return home if out playing.
The device itself consists of an audible distress alarm securely attached to the child, which can be activated by the child, or remotely by the parent or guardian.
The method of attachment to the child will be by means of a lockable device which can
be removed only by the parent or guardian.
If the alarm is activated by the child, the device carried by the parent or guardian, will also emit an audible alarm.
An example of the invention is shown in Fig. 1. This shows that there is a secure bracelet device(2) on which is affixed an electronic receiver / transmitting device (7).
This assembly can then be locked onto a child by means of either a mechanical or electronic device. For ease of illustration only the mechanical device is shown (1 ).This will be disguised by a cometic cover (8) depicting a cartoon type character.
The other feature of the system is a hand held transmitting / receiving unit (6).
The alarm device (7) fitted to the child, incorporates a panic button (3) and an audible alarm. The unit (6) carried by the parent or guardian also features a panic button (4) and an audible alarm .Either of these devices can be activated by or activate the other as previously described.
