Abstract
228,434. Pow, J. C. July 2, 1924. Bedstead adjustments.-A bedstead is mounted upon a central pivot for the purpose of conveniently changing the view of the occupant, and has means for raising the pivot out of locking engagement with its socket and for again lowering the pivot to lock it in its new position. As shown, the mechanism comprises a tubular socket 1 secured to the floor, and a cylindrical piston or pivot 2 fitting therein. The bedstead is carried by a framework 7, 8 attached to the head of the piston which is locked in position by engagement of its lower polygonal end 3 with a correspondingly shaped recess 4 in the bottom of the socket. To release the locking engagement the piston is raised by a lever 6, actuated preferably by a handle 6<1> or by a cable connection.
