Abstract

A internal envelope opener comprises of a piece of thread or similar, 2 attached to the inside of the envelope near the flap 3 and free at the other end, a small section being exposed after sealing. The tag 5 is then pulled away from the envelope causing the crease to tear, exposing the contents. <IMAGE>

Description

This invention relates to an internal envelope opener.
Envelope opening has previously required an external device, either a sharp intrument or a thumb or finger, to open the envelope in order to extract the contents, some times causing damage to the contents inside.
According to the present invention there is provided an envelope opening device inside the envelope comprising of a piece of tough thread or similar running from one attached top corner of the envelope to a free tag at the other end, along the seam crease, which when pulled away from the envelope provides a torn opening to extract the contents.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of examDle with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 - Shows is perspective, the envelope in its original opened state, prior to contents going inside, with the thread or similar attached to one side.
FIGURE 2 - Illustrates the envelope with the flap closed and sealed with the tag protruding.
FIGURE 3 - Shows how the tag is pulled upwards and away from the envelope tearing the top of envelope creating a opening.
FIGURE 4 - Shows the finished state.
Referring to the drawing, figure 1 shows the flap of an envelope 1 ready to put the contents inside. The thread 2 is tagged at both ends one free on the right hand side and one attached to the top corner of the envelope 3, running along the creased seam 4.
The contents are inserted and the flap closed and sealed. The free tag on the right hand side 5 protruding slightly away from the angled cut of the flap 6.
To open, the right hand side tag is pulled out and upwards away from the envelope causing the thread to rip through the creased seam until the end point 8 leaving the contents exposed and ready to extract.
The discarded envelope can then be thrown away.
