Abstract
A guttering system for sealing a sanitation unit such as a bath, shower tray, sink or the like comprises a number of guttering sections 1, 2 fixed to a wall adjacent to which the unit is to be fitted and which extend below the rim of the unit. Any spillage from the unit passes through a gap 5 between the rim and the adjacent wall and is collected in the guttering. The guttering may have an integral drain 3 which directs the spillage to the main drain or overflow of the unit. The guttering may be provided in separate sections 1, 2 which are cut to length and joined together to form an integral system. The ends of the sections may be sealed by end plates 6. The sections and end plates may be joined together using an adhesive. <IMAGE>
Description
BATH, SHOWER TRAY , SINK OR TANK SEAL SYSTEM
This invention relates to draining spilt or excess water away from the top edge of a bath, shower tray, sink or tank.
Baths, shower trays, sinks or tanks, are difficult to seal at the top edges where they butt against adjacent walls or partitions. This invention allows excess or spilt water to leak past the rim, where it is then captured by a gutter and directed towards the main drain or overflow pipe.
According to the present invention there is a gutter with an extended lip that allows it to be fixed to an adjacent wall or partition. The gutter has a suitable fall that directs the spilt or excess water from the bath, shower tray, sink or tank rim into a collection point and to the main drain or overflow.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig 1 shows in perspective the assembled guttering and drain system.
Fig 2 illustrates the way in which the bath, shower tray, sink or tank is positioned above the guttering. It also shows the system in place on a wall with the gap through which the excess or spilt water can pass.
Fig 3 shows the section with moulded corner piece.
Fig 4 shows view 'AA' of fig 3.
Fig 5 shows the section with integral drain.
Fig 6 shows view 'BB' of figure 5.
Fig 7 shows in perspective the system in place around a bath.
Fig 8 shows the section with moulded corner piece and no drain.
Fig 9 shows view 'CC of fig 8.
Referring to the drawings, the guttering system comprises two or three sections, a piece (1), an optional piece (7), a piece (2) which incorporates a drain (3). The two or three sections are glued together to form one integral unit or system. They are fixed to a -wall or partition with screws through holes (4). Excess water is allowed into the system through gap (5). End caps (6) are glued into position once the two or three side pieces have been cut to a suitable length.
Claims (5)
1. A guttering system is claimed as Claim 1, comprising two or three sections, a drain and end caps that is fixed to a suitable wall or partition. A bath, shower tray, sink or tank is then positioned over the guttering. Water spilt during ablutions is allowed to run into the guttering and is then directed toward the main drain or overflow. A seal is obtained between the wall or partition by tiling over the extended lip or with the use of proprietary sealant.
2. A guttering system as claimed in Claim 1, wherein an integral drain is used to direct spilt water into the bath, shower tray, sink or tank drain or overflow.
3. A guttering system as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, wherein the flexibility of use can be demonstrated as the two or three sides can be cut to length then the separate end caps glued into place. This will then suit any size of bath, shower tray, sink or tank.
4. A guttering system as claimed in Claim 2 or 3, wherein the extended lip is utilised to both seal the top of the system and secure to a suitable wall or partition.
5. A guttering system as claimed in Claim 3 or 4, wherein a third end piece with moulded corner can be added to form a third side to suit a wall or partition.
