Description
2283669 - 1 TITLE: BAG CARRYING HANDLE
Background to the Invention
This specification refers to an improved protecting handl for transporting flexible bags, the handle constituting a protecting element or handguard intended for facilitating the handling and transport of one or more flexible bags, for example plastic bags provided in supermarkets and large stores, so avoiding discomfort to the user's hands.
e Field of the Invention
This invention applies to the industry devoted to the manufacture of auxiliary material for shops or stores, and it can also be used for advertising industries and plastic material transforming industries.
Related Art There are known, at present, a large number of handguards or protecting handles that (whilst not avoiding discomfort to the palm of the user's hand) allow the carrying of a large number of plastic bags.
Nevertheless, in all the handles intended for this purpose, it has been found that they are not totally cylindrical, so they cause to a greater or lesser extent a pressure on the palm of the user's hand.
A solution to this problem would be to provide a handle capable of being made as a protecting element or handquard, made as a fully cylindrical body fitted with longitudinal groove or opening allowing it to receive flexible bag handles and, at the same time, capable of closing the groove to avoid the bags falling out, additionally protecting the groove in order not to damage the palm of the user's hand. Hitherto, no such handle has been proposed.
"- the Invention Summary z.,
According to the invention there is provided an improved protecting handle for transporting flexible bags, designed to facilitate the transport of flexible bags without discomfort to the palm of the user's hand who carries said bags, characterised in that the handle comprises two cylindrical body parts, one body part having an external diameter slightly less than the internal diameter of the other body part, both parts having substantially identical dimensions in length and having two longitudinal slits and with a similar configuration.
In this way, a fully cylindrical body is obtained in which the longitudinal slot formed by aligned slits can be 1 closed by relative turning of the body parts.
Preferably, end regions of the outer sleeve or body part receive washers each having a circular central hole and a side cut of similar dimensions to the slits (3).
Once both body parts, with their corresponding washers or stops fixed to the outside sleeve, have been assembled, the user simply proceeds to incorporate the flexible bag handles through the aligned longitudinal slits and then effects relative turning of the body parts in order to close the slot, after which the user can carry the assembly of bags using the protecting handle in a comfortable way without discomfort or damage to the palm of the user's hand.
Brief Description of the Drawings
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of two body parts and end washers of the preferred handle, Figure 2 is a perspective view of the handle of Figure 1, with the parts assembled, Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line A-B of Figure 2, with a slot open, Figure 4 is a view corresponding to that of Figure 3 but with the slot closed.
Detailed Description of the Drawings
It can be seen that the preferred handle for transporting flexible bags comprises two generally cylindrical body parts 2 and 4 of identical length, the external diameter of the part 2 being slightly less than the internal diameter of the part 4 to allow the body part 2 to be slid inside the body part 4. Each body part has a longitudinal slit 3, 5.
When the body parts are assembled the slits 3 and 5 are initially aligned or in register to form a slot to receive the handles of flexible bags.
To join the body parts together, two complementary stops or washers 6 are attached to the outer sleeve 4, each washer 6 having a central circular hole 7 and a radial opening or slit 9, which matches the dimensions of the slits 3 and 5.
once the parts 2, 4 and 6 have been assembled, the user introduces the handles 8 of the flexible bags through the aligned slits then turns the outer sleeve and thereby closes the slot formerly defined by the aligned slits and then carries the bag or bags to be transported.
Figure 2 shows clearly the manner in which the user has carried out the introduction of the bag handle 8 into the main body 1 after which relative rotation between the body parts 2 and 4 closes off the slot, as shown in Figure 4.
A A - 5 Modifications may be made within the scope of the appended claims.

Claims (4)
1. An improved protecting handle for transporting flexible bags, designed to facilitate the transport of flexible bags without discomfort to the palm of the user's hand who carries said bags, characterised in that the handle comprises two cylindrical parts (2) and (4), one body part (2) having an external diameter slightly less than the internal diameter of the other body part (4), both parts having substantially identical dimensions in length and having two longitudinal slits (3) and (5) with a similar configuration.
2. An improved protecting handle for transporting flexible bags, according to claim 1, characterised in that end regions of the outer body part (4) receive washers (6) each having a circular central hole (7) and a side cut (9) of similar dimensions to the slits (3) and (5).
3. An improved protecting handle for transporting flexible bags according to either of the preceding claims, characterised in that the aligned slits (3) and (5) form a slot for the introduction of handles (8) of flexible bags, allowing the body parts (2) and (4) to be then turned, thereby closing the slot.
b
4. An improved protecting handle for transporting flexible bags, constructed and arranged substantially as 01 herein particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
