Abstract

A multi-function advertisement and information display system has one or more sign boxes 10 which houses one or more Rotating Vaned sign mechanisms 11 and one or more L.E.D. or Quartz Crystal sign mechanisms 12. Each of the sign mechanisms is secured within the sign box 10 and the outer presentation is completed by a finishing frame 14. Illumination of the rotating vane section of the sign is concealed within sign box 10. The sign box 10 can additionally house a paper or acetate type poster holder 18 which can be illuminated or non-illuminated. Alternatively one or more sign boxes 10 can be connected to any number or combination of other sign boxes. Direct or remote input of information to the LED or Quartz Crystal 12 part of sign box 10 can electronically relay the Rotating Vane section 11 of the sign to display the relevant image and when used in conjunction with other combinations of sign box mechanisms can further electronically relay these to turn or change to the relevant images. <IMAGE>

Description

A MULTI-FUNCTION ADVERTISEMENT AND INFORMATION DISPLAY SYSTEM This invention relates to a multi-function advertisement and information display system.

Signs with rotating vanes are well known as are L.li.D./Quartz Crystal signs. The advantage of rotating vane signs is that they can carry a detailed graphic or logostyle and still provide a limited change of message. Rotating vane signs are relatively inexpensive.

The advantage of typographically restricted L.E.D. or Quartz Crystal signs is that they can change messages frequently if desired and are at the lower end of the cost scale of this type of electronic sign. High definition L.E.D. or Quartz Crystal signs to reproduce graphics are at the top end of the cost scale.

The highest definition graphics used in sign displays are the long established illuminated or non-illuminated images printed on paper or acetate etc.

According to the present invention there is provided a multifunction advertisement and information display system which is a sign box or more than one sign box either upright rectangular, sideways rectangular or square in shape or any combination thereof comprising of at least one section of rotating vanes or roller poster mechanism which display changing images when the panels rotate and one or more LED (light emitting display) or Quartz Crystal display panels or sets of panels which display alfa-numeric or graphic information or images. The LED or Quartz Crystal panel/s and the Rotating vane or roller poster mechanism are electronically interconnected to allow the display of co-ordinated information and graphic and /or photographic images.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to t he accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the multi-function unit using a combination of a rotating vane mechanism and an L.E.D. or Quartz Crystal mechanism in a form which simulates a newspaper bill poster.

Figure 2 shows a front view a multi-function unit using the combination of two units as per Fig 1 together with one larger rota vane sign box and one larger roller panel sign box all hinged together on a sliding fail chassis which allows the sign boxes to fold into a zig-zag position or to fold flat in-line.

Figure 3 shows in perspective the multi-function unit incorporating rotating vane mechanism and a LED or Quartz Crystal mechanism and a poster holder panel all within the same frame box.

Referring to the drawing and shown in Fig 1 the multi-function unit comprises a box frame 10 which houses a rotating vaned sign mechanism 11 and an L.E.D. or Quartz Crystal sign mechanisms 12. There is an optional electronic timeclock 13.

Each of the sign mechanisms is secured within the signbox 10 and the outer presentation is completed by a finishing frame 14. Illumination of the rotating vaned section of the sign is concealed inside sign box 10 around the area of the rotating vaned mechanism 11.

Referring to the drawing in Fig 2 the multi-function unit comprises of two sign boxes 10 ( as seen in Fig 1 ) which are connected to sign boxes 16 and 17 and the sign boxes are attaches to a chassis structure 15 which allows the sign boxes to fold to a zig-zag formation or to fold flat in-line. A landscaped shaped signbox 16 is a large rota vane sign box which can turn to display different images whilst 17 is a large roller mechanism sign which stores a selection of posters any one of which can be called to the display position.

Referring to the drawing in Fig 3 the rota vane section 11 of the sign is accompanyed by LED or Quartz Crystal sections of the sign 12 and is further accompanyed by a poster holder section 18 all of which are housed in a sign box 10 with a finishing frame 14.

Claims

1 A multi-function advertisement and information display system which is a sign box or more than one sign box either upright rectangular, sideways rectangular or square in shape or any combination thereof comprising of at least one section of rotating vanes or roller poster mechanism which display changing images when the panels rotate and one or more LED (light emitting display) or Quartz Crystal display panels or sets of panels which display alfa-numeric or graphic information or images. The LED or Quartz Crystal panel/s and the Rotating vane or roller poster mechanism are electronically interconnected to allow the display of co-ordinated information and graphic and /or photographic images.

2 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the rotating vane section will rotate on a time relay control to display a particular image during chosen time periods and an LED or Quartz Crystal display will also change on time relay control to display one paticular message or alternating messages or a series of messages during chosen time periods.

3 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 wherein the alfanumeric or graphic information or images when imput to the LED or Quartz Crystal display will if required electronically relay an instruction to change the display face of the rotating vane section.

4 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 and claim 3 wherein the rota vane section of the sign is positioned directly above a series of parallel lines of LED to simulate a newspaper news bill poster.

5 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 and claim 3 and claim 4 wherein the LED or Quartz Crystal display section of the sign will be changed or up-dated by Radio Wave transmission or by telephone line with or without modem attachment or with prerecorded electronic disc or casette or by cable or by direct imput with keyboard or by remote control unit.

6 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 and claim 3 and claim 4 and claim 5 wherein the rotating vane section for displaying changing images and the LED or Quartz Crystal display section is presented in conjunction with one or more Poster Display Units within the same sign box or in a separate sign box or boxes and which presents an image by using a poster printed on opaque semi-opaque or transparent material either front illuminated or back illuminated or un-illuminated or which is a poster box with a mechanism which can display consecutive or alternating poster images or which is a rotating vane system whose poster faces change in sequence.

7 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 and claim 3 and claim 4 and claim 5 and claim 6 wherein the LED message if required will trigger a relay which will turn the rotating vein section to the corresponding selected position and which if further required will activate the poster display unit to change to its corresponding selected position.

8 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 and claim 3 and claim 4 and claim 5 and claim 6 and claim 7 wherein the LED message will trigger a relay which will if required turn the rotating vein section to the corresponding selected position and which if required will activate the poster display unit to change to its corresponding selected position and which if required will cause the poster display boxes to fold from flat in-line into a zig-zag formation or alternatively fold from zig-zag formation to the flat in-line position.

9 A multi-function advertisement and information display system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 and claim 3 and claim 4 and claim 5 and claim 6 and claim 7 and claim 8 wherein the rotating vane section or sections for displaying changing images is front illuminated and within the front face panel of the sign box or where the rotating vanes are internally or back illuminated to provide a self-cleansing flat sign surface on the front of the sign box or illumination is by means of a lighting housing or housings which are externally fitted to or fitted adjacent to the front of the sign box and which will illuminate the rota vane panels yet shield the light from the LED or Quartz Crystal display section and the Poster Display Unit.

10 A multi-function advertisement and information display system substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1, 2 and 3 of the accompanying drawings.
