Abstract
A foot-cleaning platform for use in a shower comprises a rigid board 1 to lie on the base of a shower tray. Arranged along one edge of the board 1 and anchored thereto are two brushes 2 having their bristles extending vertically upwards. The two brushes are spaced apart and a handle 3 fixed to the board 1 is provided in the spacing. Extending centrally from the handle 3 to the opposite edge of the board 1 is a strip 4 of waterproof abrasive material for debriding the skin of the feet Adhered to the board 1 at respective opposite sides of the strip 4 are two rectangular layers 5 of foam plastics, to the upper surfaces of which are adhered respective layers 6 of a soft, piled fabric, whereby the user can work up a lather with his feet. The user can employ the bristles to wash the interdigital spaces and the dorsal regions of his feet. <IMAGE>
Description
A PLATFORM
According to the present invention there is provided a platform at the upper surface of which is means for use in cleaning a user's foot.
The invention has the advantage that it is not necessary for the user to bend down in order to be able to clean his feet.
The platform may take the form of a rigid board or a flexible mat. The cleaning means may take the form of an abrasive surface for use in debriding the skin of the foot and/or a piled or like surface for use in producing a lather with soap or the like to wash the skin of the plantar region of the foot and/or upwardly projecting bristles whereby the interdigital spaces and the dorsal region of the foot can be washed.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 shows a plan view of a cleaning platform for use in a shower,
Figure 2 shows a front elevation of the platform, and
Figure 3 shows a side elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawing, the platform comprises a rigid board 1 to lie on the base of a shower tray (not shown). Arranged along one edge of the board 1 and anchored thereto are two brushes 2 having their bristles extending vertically upwards away from the board 1. The two brushes are spaced apart and a handle 3 fixed to the board 1 is provided in the spacing therebetween. Extending centrally from the handle 3 to the opposite edge of the board 1 is a strip 4 of waterproof abrasive material.
Adhered to the board 1 at respective oppos-ite sides of the strip 4 are two rectangular layers 5 of foam plastics, to the upper surfaces of which are adhered respective layers 6 of a soft, piled fabric.
With water and some suitable substance such as soap, shower gel or the like, the user, with his feet on the respective layers 6, can work up a lather with his feet, in the layers 6 and can thereby wash the plantar regions of his feet and, with the lather on his feet, can use the bristles of the brushes 2 to wash the interdigital spaces and the dorsal regions. He can also debride the skin of his feet using the abrasive strip 4.
Each of the length and width (and thus the plan area) of each of the layers 5,6 is preferably greater than that of the largest human foot likely to be encountered, but at least larger than that of a normal human foot, whilst the central strip 4 is preferably at least the length, if not the width, of an average human foot. The individual items 2, 4 and/or 5/6 may be readily detachable from the board 1 to permit replacement or individual cleaning of them.
Claims (21)
1. A platform at the upper surface of which is means for use in cleaning a user's foot.
2. A platform according to claim 1 and in the form of a rigid board.
3. A platform according to claim 1 and in the form of a flexible mat.
4. A platform according to any preceding claim, wherein the cleaning means comprises an abrasive surface for use in debriding the skin of the foot.
5. A platform according to claim 4, wherein the length of said abrasive surface is at least that of an average human foot.
6. A platform according to claim 5, wherein the width of said abrasive surface is at least that of an average human foot.
7. A platform according to claim 4, 5, or 6, wherein said abrasive surface is that of a strip comprised of waterproof, abrasive material and attached to said platform.
8. A platform according to claim 7, wherein said strip is readily detachable from said platform.
9. A platform according to any preceding claim, wherein the cleaning means comprises a piled or like surface for use in producing lather with soap or the like to wash the skin of the plantar region of the foot.
10. A platform according to claim 9 as appended to claim 4, and further comprising a second piled or like surface for use in producing lather with soap or the like to wash the skin of the plantar region of the foot, said abrasive surface being disposed substantially centrally across the platform between the first-mentioned and the second piled or like surfaces.
11. A platform according to claim 9 or 10, wherein each of the length and the width of the or each piled or like surface is greater than that of a normal human foot.
12. A platform according to claim 11, wherein each of the length and the width of the or each piled or like surface is greater than that of the largest human foot likely to be encountered by the platform.
13. A platform according to any one of claims 9 to 12, wherein the or each piled or like surface is that of a layer of soft, piled fabric attached to the platform.
14. A platform according to claim 13, wherein the or each layer is readily detachable from said platform.
15. A platform according to claim 13 or 14, wherein the or each said layer is attached to the platform by way of a layer of foam plastics.
