Description
A DISPLAY TAG
The present invention relates to a display tag.
It is common practice for shops to attach display tags to articles being sold. Such display tags frequently carry information about the article, e. g.
size, price, etc. Frequently, display tags carry eye-catching material, such as trade marks, to entice prospective purchasers.
When the article is purchased, the display tag is usually removed and discarded.
The invention provides a display tag comprising a flat-folded bag and attachment means for attaching the folded bag to an article.
Thus, in the folded position, the display tag can carry the usual information. When the display tag is removed from the article, it may be unfolded and used as a bag, e.g. for the article itself.
Preferably, the folded bag has an aperture therethrough through which the attaching means passes.
Preferably, the attaching means is in the form of a loop, e. g. a flexible loop such as string or plastics material.
The bag may be formed from card or paper, and may also be provided with a pair of handles, so that the display tag may be unfolded and used as a carrier bag.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a front view of the display tag,
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the unfolded bag with the attachment means removed, and
Fig. 3 is a view of the bag of Fig. 2 from below.
In Fig. 1 a display tag 1 formed from a folded bag has an aperture 2 in a corner thereof and passing completely therethrough. Attachment means in the form of a flexible loop 3, e. g. of string, passes through the aperture 2.
The display tag 1 may carry information and/or advertising material on one or both sides thereof.
Fig. 2 shows the tag 1 of Fig. 1 completely unfolded to form a carrier bag 4. In order to convert the carrier bag 4 into the display tag 1 various folding actions are carried out along the various fold lines shown in chain dotted lines.
Firstly, handles 5 are folded into the bag so that they lie against the inside surface of opposite sides 6, 6' of the bag.
Secondly, gusseted sides 7, 7' are flattened so that sides 6, 6' lie flat against each other. In order to reach this position the base 8 is pivoted upwardly and rearwardly in Fig. 2 about the fold line A-A.
Thirdly, the bag 4 is then folded about the horizontal pivot line B-B and subsequently about the vertical pivot line C-C until only the panel 9 of the bag shows, i.e. the front of the tag 1. The panel 9' next to the panel 9 forms the rear of the tag 1.
Finally, a string or cord 3 is then passed through the aperture 2 and the tag 1 is now fully assembled.
When an article is purchased, the tag 1 is removed from the article. The loop 3 is undone or cut and the tag 1 is unfolded using the steps described above in reverse to form the carrier bag 4.
The bag 4 need not be as shown but may have any suitable form so long as it may be folded to form a tag 1, and subsequently unfolded. There may be more or less fold lines than those shown in the drawing.
The bag may be in the form of a conventional paper bag, or could be formed from card or even plastics material. The handles 5 may likewise be formed from paper, card or plastics, or even string or similar material.
