Abstract
228,027. Hardy Bros. (Alnwick), Ltd., and Hardy, L. R. March 20, 1924. Reels and winches, rod.-In a fishing reel provided with a pivoted finger lever capable of assuming three different positions so that the reel may run free, under the ordinarv check or under the influence of a comparatively strong brake, an auxiliary finger lever g is provided whereby the main finger lever a is positively held in two positions corresponding to the free and heavily braked condition of the reel, and is released by manual operation of the lever a to allow the latter to assume the normal position in which the reel runs under the influence of the usual check. In the construction described, the finger lever a carries the pivoted check c and is connected by a spring h<1> to a lever h provided with a brake block h<2>. The auxiliary lever g is controlled by a spring g<3> and is adapted to engage the notches al, a<2> in the lever a. Manual operation of the finger lever a disengages the lever g and the parts return to normal position under the action of the springs a<3>, g<3>.
