Abstract
A spectacles/sunglasses head band fractionally lifts the frames away from the bridge of the nose securely and stably without causing any disruption to vision. The spectacles/sunglasses frames are clipped onto the head band and secured into position. They are also adjustable at this point. The head band may have cushioned side pads 13. The head band may include an adjustable head strap e.g. using a stud fastening 17. Pivoting plates 15 and ball and socket joints 16 are shown. <IMAGE>
Description
Description of invention: Spectacles/Sunglasses adjustable comforter band.
This invention relates to an adjustable comforter band for spectacles and sunglasses.
For some people the wearing of spectacles/sunglasses, can be uncomfortable, irritating and in some cases painful. The frames sitting on the bridge of the nose cause pressure and however minor the pressure, some people find this a problem. For example, people who have sensitive noses, hayfever, nasal complaints, undergone surgery etc.
The adjustable comforter band is a fixable device which can be fitted to most spectacle/sunglasses frames. The purpose of this band is to, fractionally lift the frames away from the bridge of the nose securely and stabily without causing any disruption to vision. The reason for slightly raising the frames is to alleviate any irritation to the bridge of the nose some people feel when wearing spectacles/sunglasses.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective the adjustable comforter band.
Figure 2 shows elevations of the adjustable comforter band.
Figure 3 shows a pair of spectacles/sunglasses being clipped into position on the comforter band.
Figure 4 shows spectacles/sunglasses being temporarily fastened into position. Spectacles/sunglasses are then placed on the head adjusted to fit the wearer.
Figure 5 shows an optional route for fastening the comforter band.
Referring to the drawings, the comforter band comprises; two side arms 10, an adjustable head band 12, two screw threads 14, two pivoting plates 15 and two pivoting plate cushion pads 13.
A pair of spectacles/sunglasses are fixed to the comforter band (as shown in fig. 3) by clipping their arms into place on the two side arms 10. The spectacles/sunglasses arms pivot on the ball joints 16 and clip up into position on the two side arms 10. Note, Fig. 3 is drawn in a semi exploded view to show the 'clipping-in' action.
The spectacles/sunglasses are firmly secured into place by tightening the screw threads 14 as shown in Fig. 4. They are then adjusted to fit the wearers head by moving the adjustable head band 12 in or out to suit, as shown in Fig. 4.
The pivoting plate cushion pads 13 push onto the pivoting plates 15.
These pivoting plates 15 attach to the side arms 10 by way of ball and socket joints 16. These ball and socket joints 16 also act as pivots for when the spectacles/sunglasses are clipped into place, as shown in
Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 shows an alternative route for the adjustable head band 12. It shows a stud fastening 17 which is attached to the side arms 10.
The stud fastening 17 is adjustable as shown in the enlarged view in Fig. 5.
