Abstract

A greeting card comprises words and pictures printed on paper which is embedded between layers of plastic, the top layer containing a recording which can be played on a record player or compact disc player or video player.

Description

PATENT SPECIFICATION PICTURE DISC GREETING CARD The invention relates to a greeting card which can be played on a gramophone or record player or compact disc player or video player.
Greeting cards and picture discs are well known as separate entities. A greeting card is picture and words printed on paper or similar material and cannot be played on a gramophone or record player or compact disc player or video player. A picture disc (record) consists of words and music and can be played on a gramophone or record player or compact disc player but not on a video player.
In this invention there is provided a greeting card which can be played on a gramophone or record player or compact disc player or video player as one entity.
The words, spoken and/or sung, the music and the pictures are embedded in plastic to form a Picture Disc Greeting Card for the purpose of conveying greetings, sentiments, memories, emotions inter alia from a donor to a recipient.
This invention further provides that the words, music and pictures can be embedded in plastic as a single sided or double sided entity with the information stored in the plastic in analogue and/or digital formats.
The embodiment of the invention is explained as follows: A layer of clear or coloured plastic is spun in the conventional manner when making a gramophone record or compact disc or video disc. The greeting written messages and pictures are pre-printed on paper or similar material and placed over the first layer of plastic. A second layer of plastic is laid over the picture and first layer of plastic and the whole is sealed and bonded together.
The words (lyrics) and music are then imprinted in the top layer of clear plastic using a master stamper in the conventional manner of producing a gramophone record or compact disc or video disc.
This invention does not claim the method of producing a gramophone record or compact disc or video disc or printing pictures and words and music on similar media.
This invention relates to the idea of producing a greeting card which can be played on the devices aforementioned using the methods described.
In Fig 1 the vinyl or plastic 1 layer is spun in the conventional method of producing a gramophone record. The still pictures and greetings 2 are sandwiched and sealed by layer 3 of clear plastic.
Words spoken or sung or both are imprinted in the conventional manner into layer 3 in analogue format.
In Fig 2 the layer 4 is a metallised spray on plastic produced in the conventional manner of producing a compact disc, the picture and greetings 5 are sandwiched between another layer of metallised spray on plastic 6 and the music and words are stored in digital format on 6.
In Fig 3 the layer 7 is as in Fig 2 and layer 8 is as in Fig 2 but layer 9 consists of moving pictures stored in digital format together with words and music.

Claims (3)

1. A greeting card comprising of words, music and pictures which can be played on a gramophone or record player or compact disc player or video player.
2. A greeting card as claimed in Claim 1 whereby when played on a video or laser player can produce moving pictures in addition to words and music.
3. A greeting card claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2 whereby the words, music, and moving pictures are digitised and reproduced in digital format.
