Abstract

A remote monitoring system, particularly a fire alarm and/or detector system (25) has a control unit (26) connected by wires to at least one monitoring unit (29) which has a decoder able to identify at least two different addresses and connected to a device having two conditions so as to react differently depending upon the condition of the device, the unit reacting to a first of said addresses when the device is in its one condition and to a second of said addresses when the device is in its other condition. The device can be a detector, such as a smoke detector, a break-glass alarm or the like. <IMAGE>
