Description

2276646 1 "A clearinq plate holder mounting for a drum cutter-loader" The
invention relates to the mounting of a clearing plate holder of a drum cutter-loader. Such a clearing plate is usually mounted about the gear box, for example of a planet gear, of the drum support arm so as to be able to swivel on the latter. Here, the clearing plate is fastened to a clearing plate holder which is between the support arm housing and the cutting drum. As a result of this spatial arrangement, there arise space problems in regard to the arrangement of the mounting. Clearing plate mountings with slide bearings or roller bearings (four point bearings) are known at present. Both types of bearing have considerable drawbacks in regard to operation and maintenance.
A slide mounting does have the advantage of low manufacturing costs, but the serious drawback of an unfavourable ratio of support width (bearing width) and diameter. The result of this is that in the event of loading by tilting moments, the mounting tends to jam and makes swivelling of the clearing plate more difficult or even impossible.
The advantages of using roller bearings lie not only in easier running, but also in the larger support width which results from the inner construction of the bearing and is dependent upon the angle of contact of the rolling bodies to the track. Disadvantageous is the undivided construction of the bearing, which permits fitting only in the axial 2 direction. This means a prior dismantling of the cutting drum before the bearing can be replaced. Divided roller bearings have in fact also become known, but are consider ably more costly.
The problem of the invention consists of providing a modified slide mounting of a clearing plate holder, which in itself combines the advantages of a conventional slide mounting with those of a four-point bearing, as offered in the case of roller bearings.
Originating from a slide mounting of a clearing plate holder of a drum cutter-loader with a swivel ring which is arranged on the clearing plate holder and is divided in the circumferential direction, for rotatable mounting about the gear housing of the drum support arm, with its sliding surface on a bearing surface, wherein the bearing surface on the housing is constructed like a keyway with two partial bearing surfaces which are inclined at the same pitch and the sliding surface of the swivel ring is designed as a matching roof-like profile.
In this construction, the swivel ring of the clearing plate holder slides in a rooflike keyway. Such a bearing is capable of reliably transmitting, on the one hand, radial and axial forces, and on the other, tilting moments. In the case of radial loading of the bearing, there is no difference from known cylindrical slide bearings. In the event of loading by a tilting moment, there are provided as bearing surfaces, two facing and oppositely running conical surfaces. Support occurs here not perpendicularly to the axis 3 of rotation, but at a slant according to the inclination of the two conical surf aces. As a result, there is a larger supporting width by comparison with a conventional cylindrical slide bearing, which gives the mounting greater rigid- ity. Edge compression at the other ends of the bearing is completely avoided in the event of a tilting load, as a result of the sliding surf aces running at an incline. it can occur only with larger bearing clearances, whereas in a cylindrical bearing, on the other hand, undesirable edge pressures can be detected with a small bearing clearance.
For the purpose of swivelling the clearing plate holder it is advantageous to construct the swivel ring in its axial centre symmetrically to the roof profile as an internal gear with an inner toothing, in which engages a toothed wheel which is in geared communication with the swivel gear and which is lodged in a cavity of the swivel ring. At this point, the unavoidable movements of the mounting (caused by bearing clearance and external forces) have the smallest influence on the tooth engagement of the gearing.
Furthermore, it is advantageous to construct the inner toothing as a single-part or multi-part ring gear and arrange this ring gear non-positively in a groove of the swivel ring.
According to another advantageous development, the bearing member surface adjacent to the cutting drum is a component of an independent roller ring, which is mounted on a cylindrical annular shoulder of the housing, butting against an inner support surface, and is detachably con- 4 nected to the housing by screw bolts.
Such a division of the bearing surface of the housing offers the constructional possibility of clearance limitation without attention having to be paid to excessively narrow manufacturing tolerance. A defined movability in the axial direction can thus be provided by known means for the independent roller ring, in order to obtain a desirable clearance in this way.
The invention may be performed in various ways and a preferred embodiment will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows a top plan view of a slide mounting of a clearing plate holder according to the invention, partly in section.
A support arm housing 1, carries a cutting drum 2 at its free end and has a swivel mounting to a drum cutter- loader (not shown). The cutting drum 2 is mounted on an output shaft 3, which is connected to planetary gearing arranged in a box 4 which is firmly connected in a suitable way to the support arm housing 1.
Between the support arm housing 1 and cutting drum 2 is arranged a clearing plate holder 5, to which a clearing plate (not shown) is fastened. The clearing plate holder 5 at its inner end is constructed as a swivel ring 6 which is divided in the circumferential direction, so that the clearing plate holder 5 can be replaced without having to dismantle the cutting drum 2 beforehand.
The rotary mounting of the swivel ring 6 of the clearing plate holder 5 on the housing 4 is constructed as 1 a slide mounting. Here, the bearing surface on the housing 4 is shaped according to a keyway with two partial bearing surfaces 7 and 8 which are inclined at the same pitch. The sliding surf ace of the swivel ring 6 is constructed as a matching roof-shaped profile and likewise contains two corresponding partial surfaces 9 and 10.
In the axial centre of the swivel ring 6 there is an encircling groove 11, in which a ring gear 12 with an inner toothing 13 is non-positively retained. In the inner toothing 13 is engaged an outer-toothed wheel 14, which is carried on a driving shaf t 15, which is mounted in the housing 4 and can be rotated by a diagrammatically illustrated hydraulic motor 16.
The two partial surfaces 7 and 8 of the bearing of the housing 4 can basically be formed on the single-part housing. Should there, however, be a possibility of being able to adjust the clearance of the slide bearing, this can occur by an independent roller ring being provided for one of the two bearing partial surfaces 7 or 8. In the exemplified embodiment illustrated, the partial surface 8 of the bearing is a component of such an independent roller ring 17, which is seated positively on a cylindrical annular shoulder 18 of the housing 4 and is detachably connected to the housing 4 by screw bolts (not shown).
Here, the roller ring 17 butts against a support surface 19 in the housing. By the use of thin intermediate layers, the axial position of the roller ring 17 and also the desired clearance can be set.
6 The dot-dash lines 20 indicate that, in such a slide bearing with inclined bearing surfaces, there is a supporting width which is larger by the amount X on each side as compared with a cylindrical slide bearing of the same width.
