Abstract

A safety closure for a carbonated drinks bottle of the kind comprising an outer cap 6 and an inner cap 7 and which requires the outer cap to be depressed and turned for removal of the closure, includes a valved venting arrangement. The outer cap carries a pillar 5 bearing seals 4 which close vents 1 in the inner cap when the closure is on the bottle neck in a closed position. When the outer cap 6 is pushed downwards the seals 4 move away from the vents (Figure 1), so allowing excess pressure within the bottle to be vented to atmosphere through further vents 1 in the outer cap. A spring 3 pushes the caps apart unless the outer cap is pushed downwards. <IMAGE>

SAFETY CAP FOR FIZZR DRINKS.
DESCRIPTION.
The safety cap is a self sealing bottle cap that is operated by pushing down an outer cap which pushes down a central pillar opening the seal. Once the seal is open it releases the pressure until it's equal with the pressure outside. While still holding the cap down, which engages some lugs so that it can be opened, as you would a conventional bottle. To reseal, you must hold the cap down as removing but turn to tighten. Once tightened, the spring will push the outer cap back up and the pressure from the fizzy drink with the spring will seal the cap. Thereby keeping the fizzy drink fizzy.

Claims (2)

  1. SAFETY CAP FOR FIZZY DRINKS.
    CLAIMS.
    The safey cap is safer the a conventional fizzy drinfis cap because once the outer cap 6 is pushed downwards, it will push down the central pillar 5. Therefore opening the seals 4. This will result in the gas from the fizzy drink finding its way out via the vents 1. Once the gas is released from the fizzy drin1, hold the outer cap 6, down so it connects with the inner cap 7, in the no=al way. See figure 1.
    n will happen once the lugs 2 have engaged. Having got ones drink.
    To re-seal the bottle, you will first have to hold down the outer cap 6, so that the lugs 2, engage and tighten the 'oottle cap. As normal once thightened, release outer cap 6, so that the spring 3 can push the outer cap 6 away from the inner cap 7. This will automatically close the seals 4.
    So your fizzy drink will remain fizzy. See figure
