Description
2274762 A CENTRIFUGAL FERTILISER BROADCASTER The invention relates to a
centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster in accordance with the preamble of claim 1.
Such a centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster is known from German Offenlegungsschrift 38 12 087. In this centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster, two centrifugal discs are disposed beneath the hopper, such discs being driven in opposite rotational directions and being provided with throwing vanes. Two short vanes for limited fertilisation are disposed on each centrifugal disc and are each provided with a broadcasting wall which is inclined at a steep angle. Normal throwing vanes can be disposed on the rear wall of these throwing vanes in front of or behind the rear wall as an extension of the rear wall, so that normal fertilising can be effected with broadcasting walls which are inclined at a small angle. In consequence, this centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster has the advantage that, without having to change the centrifugal discs, both limited broadcasting and normal fertilising can be effected. However, it is disadvantageous in such case that the centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster, both for limited broadcasting and also for normal fertilising, cannot easily be adapted to the different broadcasting properties of the type of fertiliser to be distributed.
The basic object of the invention is to provide a simple remedy here.
This object is achieved, according to the present invention in which there is provided a centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster, including a hopper and at least two rotatably driven centrifugal discs, on which are disposed throwing members, with which both normal fertilising with broadcasting walls inclined at a small angle and limited broadcasting with broadcasting walls inclined at a steep angle, or selectively with broadcasting walls also inclined at a small angle, can be effected, the throwing vanes being disposable accordingly on the centrifugal disc for the transition from normal to limited broadcasting, at least some of the throwing vanes being variable in respect of their effective length for broadcasting, wherein the throwing vanes, intended for limited broadcasting, are disposed so as to be angularly pivotable on the centrifugal disc, and wherein the limited broadcasting vane includes a securement member, on which the throwing vane for normal broadcasting is mountable.
As a consequence of these measures, the throwing vanes for limited broadcasting and for normal broadcasting can easily be adjusted according to the broadcasting properties of the type of fertiliser to be distributed, with the result that a uniform distribution of fertiliser for all types of fertiliser can easily be achieved. Thus, for example, it is easily possible to operate so that initially the limited broadcasting vane is adjusted to the prescribed value for the type of fertiliser to be broadcast. The normal broadcasting vane can then subsequently be adjusted to the value intended for this type of fertiliser. To effect limited broadcasting, the normal broadcasting vane is then simply removed. To adjust the normal broadcasting vane, the normal broadcasting vane is adjustable relative to the limited broadcasting vane and the securement member in the plane of the discs at different angles relative to the radial.
In order to ensure a positive adjustment of limited broadcasting vanes and normal broadcasting vanes, markings are provided for the limited broadcasting vane and for the normal broadcasting vane, and they are different and non- interchangeable. A simple mounting for the normal broadcasting vane is achieved, in that the normal broadcasting vane is securable by means of a quick-release closure.
Provision is also made for normal broadcasting vanes of various lengths to be used for different ranges of working widths.
The invention will be described further, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: - Fig. 1 is a rear view of the centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster; Fig. 2 is a plan view of a limited broadcasting vane, which is disposed so as to be angularly pivotable on a centrifugal disc. only part of which is illustrated; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of a normal broadcasting vane, which is disposed on the limited broadcasting vane and is angularly pivotable.
A centrifugal distributor or broadcaster 1, in the form of an attachmenttype centrifugal broadcaster, includes a frame 2 which is provided, on its front side when viewed with respect to the direction of travel, with three-point connection members in known manner for attachment to a tractor. A hopper 3, which includes two funnel-like hopper portions 5 separated by the roofshaped central portion 4, is mounted on the frame 2.
A detachable base plate 6 is disposed in the lower region of each of the funnel-shaped hopper portions 5. These base plates 6 include outlet apertures, which are adjustable in various widths of opening by slide members 7.
A centrifugal disc 9. which is drivable so as to rotate about a vertical axle 8, is disposed beneath each of the outlet apertures provided in the base plates 6. The centrifugal discs 9 are each provided with two limited broadcasting throwing vanes 10 and are driven in opposite rotational directions by a transmission unit 11 of the power take-off shaft of the tractor towing the attachment-type centrifugal fertiliser broadcaster. The fertilisers, which trickle out of the cross-section of the openings of the outlet apertures which are released by the slide members 7, pass to the centrifugal discs 9 and are collected by the respective throwing members 10 and centrifuged over a predetermined broadcasting range, whereby a broadcasting pattern of uniform broadcasting thickness is produced.
As already mentioned, the limited broadcasting vanes 10 are disposed on the centrifugal discs 9, as illustrated in Fig. 2. Each limited broadcasting or throwing vane 10 is of generally U-shaped configuration, laid on its larger side portion 12 on disc 9. Side, securement portion 12 has an inclined leading edge 121 to enable fertiliser particles to pass more easily onto the lower side portion 12 and may be formed by an embossing or bending process. The limited broadcasting vane 10 is secured by the securement portion 12 on the centrifugal disc 9 so as to be angularly pivotable in the plane of the discs by means of bolts 13 and the bolts 14. The bolt 14 extends into an elongate slot 15 provided in the centrifugal disc 9. The limited broadcasting vane 10 can be adjusted and locked in different positions by means of the locking nut disposed on the bolt 14 and with reference to the markings 16 on disc 9. The limited broadcasting vane 10 includes a rear wall 17, which connects the securement portion 12 with an upper wall portion or throwing arm 18. A limited broadcasting rear wall 19, which is lockable in different positions, is disposed on the rear wall 17 of the limited broadcasting vane 10 and has an elongate slot 20. The bolt 21, secured on the rear wall 17. extends through this elongate slot 20. The locking nut 22 is mounted on this bolt 21, and the rear wall 19 can be adjusted by said nut between the position illustrated by solid lines and the position 191 illustrated by dash-dot lines.
In Fig. 3, a normal broadcasting or throwing vane 23 is illustrated and is a channel member of generally U-shaped section having a lower wall portion, an upper wall portion and a rear wall portion indicated in broken line. Normal throwing vane 23 can be mounted on the securement portion 12 by means of a bolt 25. which is in the form of a quick-release closure. The normal broadcasting vane 23 is adjustable with the aid of markings 24 into different positions according to the particular broadcasting properties of the fertiliser to be broadcast.
The following operation is effected in order to adjust the limited and normal broadcasting vanes:
The limited broadcasting vane 10 is initially adjusted to the appropriate angle in the plane of the discs with reference to the markings 16. The displaceable rear wall 19 is subsequently adjusted to the value, likewise determined from a Table, for the desired working width for the limited broadcasting of the particular type of fertiliser. The normal broadcasting vane 23 is also subsequently adjusted with reference to a Table.
If limited broadcasting is now to be effected, the normal broadcasting vane 23 is removed by means of the quick-release closure.
Because of the different adjustment in length of the rear wall 19, different working widths are achievable for limited broadcasting using broadcasting walls which are inclined at a steep angle.
In order to achieve different working widths for normal broadcasting, normal broadcasting throwing vanes 23 of different lengths are provided for various working width ranges.
To achieve a particularly good and simple pivotal movement of the throwing vanes, it may be advisable to use planar centrifugal discs. In order then to achieve sufficiently large throwing angles, throwing vanes are then to be used which are angled upwardly relative to the horizontal.
