Abstract
An alignment device for golf practice comprises a lamp 1 and screen 3 to receive reflected light from a club face, which may have a mirror mounted thereon and a target 7. <IMAGE>
Description
=nB AI(T DE:VICE
This invention relates to a Golf Club Alignment Device.
Golf Clubs are used, in the game of Golf, to propel a
Golf Pall through the air and along the ground towards a specific target on the Golf Course. To propel the Golf
Fall directly towards the chosen point, it is vital that the Player aligns the Golf Club Face at right angles to the target line.
According to the present invention, there is provided a
Golf Club Alignment Device which allows the golfer, during practice, to check the alignment of the Golf Club
Face. The Golfer aims the Golf Club Face at a Target.
Energy is radiated from a Source towards the Golf Club
Face; that energy reflected from the Golf Club Face (which may be enhanced by a suitable reflector) is detected and used to determine the alignment of the Golf
Club Face, which is then depicted on a Screen.
A specific emhodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, using light as the Energy Source.
Figure 1 shows Screen, Feet, Light Source, Target,
Reflected Image and Golf Club. Figure 2 shows the Golf
Club with a small Mirror attached to the Golf Club Face.
Light is emitted from the light source(1) in box(2), attached to screen(3), and is reflected by the small mirror(4) attached to the golf club face(5) back to the screen(3) where it creates an image of the mirror(6). A target(7) is provided adjacent to the light source. The golfer aims the golf club face(5) at the target(7) and, if the golf club face alignment is correct, the image(6) will appear immediately above the centre of the light source(1). If the alignment is not correct, the image will be displaced by an angle equal to twice the alignment error. Where the mirror(4) is not positioned in the centre of the golf club face(5), the target(7-) is offset from the centre of the light source(1) by the same amount as the mirror(4) is offset from the centre of the golf club face.
Claims (7)
1. A Golf Club Alignment Device allows the golfer, during practice, to check the alignment of the Golf Club
2. A Golf Club Alignment Device allows the golfer, during practice, to check the alignment of the Golf Club
Face. The Golfer aims the Golf Club Face at a Target.
Light is emitted from a Source towards the Golf Club
Face which has a small Mirror temporarily attached to it. The light is reflected from the Mirror onto a Screen where it creates an Image. The position of the Image on the Screen determines whether the Golf Club Face has been correctly aligned.
3. A Golf Club Alignment Device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the Energy Source radiates intermittently.
4. A Golf Club Alignment Device as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the Light Source is emitted intermittently.
5. A Golf Club Alignment Device as claimed in Claim 3 wherein an alert signal is given prior to the Energy
Source radiating.
6. A Golf Club Alignment Device as claimed in Claim 4 wherein an alert signal is given prior to the Light
Source being emitted.
7. A Golf Club Alignment Device substantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1 and Figure 2 of the accompanying drawing.
