Abstract

A sock (1) has a loop (3) to facilitate putting on of the sock. Preferably, the loop (3) is stitched to the rear of the open end (2) of the sock (1). The sock may be provided with two or more loops. <IMAGE>

Description

Sock The present invention relates to a sock.
Difficulties can occur when trying to put on socks.
This is particularly true for the old and disabled, especially if the person has a weak grip.
The invention provides a sock having a loop to facilitate putting on of the sock. Preferably the loop is adjacent the open end of the sock and is preferably stitched to the sock.
The wearer may insert a finger through the loop and pull the sock onto the foot even though that person has a weak grip.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows, by way of example, a sock having a loop in accordance with the invention.
In the drawing a sock 1 has an open end 2. Two ends of a strip of flexible material have been stitched to the rear of the open end 2 to form a loop 3. However, the loop 3 could be attached in some other way to the sock 1, e.g. knitted into the sock.
In use, a finger is inserted through the loop 3 and is pulled upwards to facilitate pulling the sock 1 onto the wearer's foot.
The loop 3 may be of any suitable length, but should be sufficiently long for the wearer to be able to insert a finger therethrough.
The loop 3 may be made of the same material as the sock 1, or may be of different material and colour. If desired, the loop may carry wording, e. g. a trade mark.
Instead of the loop 3 being arranged at the rear of the opening 2, it could be arranged at the front, or even at one side of the opening 2. It would be possible to provide two (or even more) loops 3, e.g. one at the front and one at the back, or one at each side of the opening 2.

Claims (6)
