Abstract

The system is placed in the boot of a car and may be adapted to form a number of compartments for storing items during transit. Included in these compartments is a section for holding bottles and other circular objects securely. The whole system may be folded flat and left in the car boot when not in use. <IMAGE>

Description

CAR BOOT STORAGE SYSTEM This invention relates to a Car Boot Storage System.
The current method of holding/securing items during transit in a motor car is to place the item in a box or container and place it into the car boot. Usn rX this method, the box or container is allowed to roll or slide about, possibly damaging the contents.
A Car Boot Storage System comprising a flat base onto which a number of hinged dividers are mounted.
Also mounted onto the base is a hinged bottle holder.
The Car Boot Storage System is able to be placed into a car boot in any desired horizontal position and rH secured in place by strips of Velcro attached to the underside of the base.
The Velcro strips being allowed to make contact with the car boot carpet.
A compartment of certain shape or size is able to be made by raising relevant dividers to the upright position.
A bottle holder is able to be made by raising the bottle holder section to the upright position.
The hinges by design incorporate a locking mechanism to lock the divider or bottle holder into the upright position.
When not in use, the dividers and bottle holder are able to be lowered into the base, thus allowing the Storage System to take up little vertical space.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawingS in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the Car Boot Storage System mounted in the boot of a car and in the folded or flat position.
Figure 2 illustrates the Storage System with all of the dividers and bottle holder in the upright position.
Figure 3 is a similar illustration to Figure 2 but showing sectional detail.
Figure 4 shows the Storage System with all of the dividers and the bottle holder folded into the flat position.
Figures 5 and 6 show the hinge/locking mechanism for the dividers and the bottle holder.

Claims (7)

1. A Car Boot Storage System comprising a flat base with permanently attached/hinged dividers and bottle holder which when not in use may be folded flat.
2. A Car Boot Storage System as claimed in Claim 1 wherein selection of hinged dividers allows a number of different size compartments to be obtained.
3. A Car Boot Storage System as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the hinged dividers when raised will lock in an upright position.
4. A Car Boot Storage System as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the bottle holder section when raised will lock in an upright position.
5. A Car Boot Storage System as claimed in Claim 1 TM wherein the attachment of Velcro to the base of the system allows semi-permanent fixture of the Storage System to the car boot carpet.
6. A Car Boot Storage System as claimed in Claims 2 and 4 wherein lowering of the dividers and bottle holder section allows the System to be folded flat when not in use.
7. A Car Boot Storage System substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 of the accompanying drawings.
