Abstract

Packaging bearing advertising material comprising a paper or other flexible sheet material (1, fig. 3) sachet containing food, eg sugar, salt etc, or any other consumable material, eg wet tissues. The paper sachet (1, fig. 3) has attached to it a folded strip 2 of paper or flexible strip material on which there is printed advertising material. The strip is folded along fold lines 4 and fixed to the sachet by gummed strip 5 on an end panel which may be tapered. The number of panels may vary from seven to four. <IMAGE>

Description

PACKAGING BEARING ADVERTISING MATERIAL This invention relates to packaging.
It is an object of this invention to provide packaging bearing advertising material.
According to this invention there is provided packaging bearing advertising material comprising a paper sachet containing food or any consumable material and carrying a folded strip of paper on which there is printed advertising material.
Paper is to be understood to include any flexible sheet of material which can be folded and retain a fold and need not necessarily be made from wood pulp.
The food material may, for example, be granulated sugar, cube sugar, salt, pepper, artificial sweetener, tomato ketchup, mustard, milk powder, mayonnaise or French dressing.
Other possible consumable materials are shampoos, wet tissues, shoe polish or bubble baths.
Two embodiments of this invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings of which: Figure 1 is a plan view of a strip of paper prior to folding; Figure 2 shows the fold sequence of the strip of paper shown in Figure 1; Figure 3 shows a food sachet to which the folded strip of paper is attached; and Figure 4 shows a cube sugar sachet to which the folded strip is attached.
Referring first to Figure 3, a sachet of paper 1 has gummed to it a folded strip of paper 2 on which there is printed advertising material. The folded strip of paper 2 is shown in unfolded form in Figure 1 and has seven panels 3 on each side and each panel 3 may bear a different advertisement although it is obviously possible for all the advertisements to be the same. The strip of paper 2 has, in this example, a width of 90mm and a length of 350mm and is divided into seven panels 3 by fold lines 4 parallel to the narrower end of the strip 2. Consequently each panel 3 has the dimensions of 90mm x 50mm.
The panel 3 at one end bears a gummed strip 5 which is used to secure the folded strip to the sachet 1.
The fold sequence is shown in Figure 2 which strip of paper 2 is folded with the gummed strip 5 external and that gummed strip 5 is then utilised to secure the folded strip 2 to the food sachet 1 as illustrated in Figure 3.
The right hand panel 3 is shown tapered but may have the same dimensions as the other panels.
A variant uses four panels 3 with the strip of paper 2 having a width of 65mm and a length of 200mm.
Figure 4 shows another embodiment having a sachet of two wrapped sugar cubes attached to the strip of paper 2.
Other means of attaching the advertising material to the sachet may include by means of pressure sealing materials or by means of a suitable paper glue.

Claims (5)

1. Packaging bearing advertising material comprising a paper sachet containing food or any consumable material and carrying a folded strip of paper on which there is printed advertising material.
2. Packaging material according to claim 1 wherein the folded strip of paper is so folded as to provide between 4 and 7 panels.
3. Packaging material according to claim 3 wherein the food material is granulated sugar, cube sugar, salt, pepper, artificial sweetner, tomato ketchup, mustard, milk powder, mayonnaise or French dressing.
4. Packaging material according to any of claims 1 to 3 wherein the folded strip of paper is attached to the paper sachet by means of pressure sealing materials, gum material or glue.
5. Packaging material bearing advertising material substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
