Description

PACKAGING CONTAINER DESCRIP'rION This invention relates to a packaging container having the features recited in the prior art part of claim 1. (appended) i.e. the part before the characterising cLause in the claim.
Packaging containers are known which comprise two parts1 which are interconected by a hinge and one of which contains a receptacle, which serves to receive an article, which ay consist a writing utensil, a watch, jewellery etc.. Sqck packaging containers are used for the transportation and storage of the articles to oe packaged.
For use with valuaole articles, such as writing utensils, watches or jewellery, the packaging container often serves also fr presentation and to facilitate handling. Because the articles are valuaule, they must meet certain requirements (or expectations of the customers or buyers and this is applicable also to the packaging containers. Tne packaging for valuable articles offered for sale wust have an attractive appearance. Watches, writing utensils or jewellery or other valuable articles are in most cases Dought for use as a gift so that the packagirg container has a certain significance.
In view of the increasing awareness of the population of proolems of ecology, the disposal of waste and the avoiding of waste oecome wore and more significant. In the future, buyers will be permitted to leave the packages in the shops.
Because writing utensils, watches or jewellery or other valuable articles are offered for sale to buyers who require an appropriate packaging container, that container =est be offered toc.
Whereas such a packaging container made of cardboard or paper can De recycled, additional waste will not ue avoided in that case.
It is an object c the invention to provide a packaging container which permits the desired presentation of the articles, on the one hand, and minimize the waste which is due to the padiagiRg material, on the other hand.
That object is accomplished in accordance with the invention oy a packaging container having the features recited in claim 1. Desirable improvements are subject matters of the dependent claims. The packaging container in accordance with the invention distinguishes Dy comprising an insert, which serves to receive a pair of eyeglasses. The receptacle, which is provided iu one of the parts, is detachably connected to the parts. That design affords the advantage that the receptacle serves to receive the article offered for sale. For instance, a writing utensil, a watcn, a piece of jewellery, etc. may oe inserted into the receptacle.Wnen the buyer has acquired tne article offered for sale, he or she will also keep the packaging conb er.3ecause the receptacle is detachaoly connected to the part, the receptacle can be taken out and disposed of so that the packaging container which is inept by the buyer desirably comprises an insert, which has a nose- shaped protruding portion that extends transversely to the longitudinal direction Ol the container ana serves to centre a pair of eyeglasses. That portion is so designed and the inside dimensions of tne packaging container are so selected that a pair of eyeglasses can now oe inserted iato the packaging container. As a result, the buyer of the article additionally acquires an eyeglas case.
It is now no longer required to dispose of the entire packaging container but it is sufficient to dispose of the receptacle so that the resulttig waste is ninimlzed. Another advantage afforded by the packaging container designed in accordance with the invention inay oe seen i that an eyeglass case is placed at the disposal of the buyer so that he need not buy a separate eyeglass case. As a result it is no longer necessary to make as many eyeglass cases as before so that resources will ue preserved.
Desirably the receptacle is disposed in one of the parts and the insert is disposed in the other part. This will afford the advantage that the packaging container can oe manufactured in a relatively small number of steps. Tne receptacle need not match the ihsert if they are arranged one over the other. An arrangement of the receptacle over the insert in one part may oe desirable oecause a possioly undesired influence of the aose-shaped protruding portion on the appearance will then be avoided.
Projections overlying the receptacle are desiraoly formed on the inside surface of said part so that a separaole joint is provided bet weez the receptacle and said part.
That part desirably comprises a strip, which paitly overlaps the receptacle. This will result in a reliable joint uetween the reept acle and said part. The strip is desirably provided only on that side of that part v~h-ch the noseshaped protruding portion is formed. In that case the strip will not be disturbing when the packaging container is used as an eyeglass case.
The hinge desirably consists of a film hinge. Such a hinge nay be formed during a single operation in which the packaging container is an injection moulding of plastic, particularly of polypropy- lene.
Further advantages and features of the packaging container in accordance with the invention will become apparent from the following description of an illustrative embodiment with reference to the figures of the drawings, in which Figure shows a packaging contanner without a receptacle, Figure 2 shows a receptacle and Figure 3 shows schematically how the packaging container can be used0 The packaging container cnnsists of parts 1 and 2, which are interconnected by a hinge 3.
The parts 1; arid 2 can be closed against each other.
The part 2 contains the receptacle 4, which lies over and oh the insert 5. A strip 7 is formed at the top edge of the part 2 ot that side which is ado cent to the protruding portion 6. The strip 7 faces the interior of the part 2 and overlaps part of the récept- acle 4.
The receptacle 4 shown in Figure 2 is intended, e.g., to hold writing uzensils. The receptacle 4 comprises a section 8, wl has a width that is at least as large as the protruding portion 6. That section is adjoined by a tub 9, which contains the writing utensils 10. An elastic strip 11 is provided for retaining each writing utensil 10 in the tuD 9.
It is apparent from Figure 3 that eyeglasses 12 can be inserted into the insert 6 after the receptacle 4 has oeen removed from the part 2.
The nose-shaped protruding portion may alternatively rise only slightly aoove the insert 5 like an embossed surface.
