Abstract

A transaction processing apparatus carries out real-time transaction processing on receipt of both local data and remote data. The effect of data errors arising due to either hardware faults or human error, are virtually eliminated by operation of a re-build processor (10) which continuously monitors operation of the real-time processor (6). Accordingly, data structures may be rebuilt very quickly after a fault arises. In addition, an offline processor (8) operates in parallel with the real-time processor (6) and uses data in its associated database (9) to compare and verify processed locally received data and remotely received data. The offline processor (8) does not operate in real-time but in point-in-time at regular intervals to allow correction of errors and updating of data which is to be verified. <IMAGE>
