Abstract

A device for non-electronic storing and accessing personal data consists of a data storage card in the form of a grid with letters along two edges (1) and two rows of letters at the centre (2). The squares in the grid are for storing data. A second card has windows (3, 4) for establishing the position of the second card relative to the first and for displaying the stored data. The second card is placed on the data storage card with the selected letter (eg. S) displayed in the selected address window and the data is then entered in the display windows (4). When all the required data has been entered on the data storage card at the selected addresses, random numbers are entered in the empty squares and the data can only be accessed with the second card by the person who entered it. <IMAGE>

Description

NON ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR RANDOM STORING AND ACCESSING OF CONFIDENTIAL PERSONAL DATA This invention relates to a non electronic device for random storing and accessing Qf confidential data based on alpha numerics.
Electronic devices for random storing and accessing of confidential personal data are well known devices, but they are,n the main, pocket computers and as such are expensive. Moreover they tend to be heavy and therefore not always convenient for carrying on the person Qr in a handbag.
The non electronic device described here differs substantially from its electronic counterparts in that it is non electronic and it is based on alpha numerics. And because of its unique characteristics, the data entered on it can only be accessed by the person who entered it.
According to the present invention there are provided two cards, the large card is in the form of a grid with letters or numbers on two or more edges, and to rows of letters or numbers at the centre. This card is for the storing of data and is referred to as the data storage card. Each square on the grid is for storing a single character, although these squares could be larger and store more than one character. The second smaller card is co-operable with the data storage card and is used to locate and display the address of the data to be stored or accessed. To this end there are provided windows for establishing the address or location of the data to be stored or accessed, and windows for display the data or its address. This small card is referred to as the service card.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1. shows the data storage card in the form of a grid.
Figure 2 shows the service card with windows to locate the address of the data, and windows to display the address or the accessed data.
Figure 3 shows the service card in place on the data storage card.
Referring to the drawing the data storage card has 25 letters along 2 edges (1), and 2 rows of 25 letters at the centre (2). There are 2 grids on each side of the data storage card and these are identified by the numbers 1,2,3 and 4, (6). As an alternative the grids could be colour coded for identification.
The service card, Figure 2, has display windows (3) and address windows (4).
Initially the data storage card contains no data other than the letters (1) and (2), and in order to enter the required data a letter is selec -ted an the data storage card; next an address window is selected on the service card (4). Vflien the service card is placed on the data storage card with the selected letter on the data storage card displayed in the selected window of the service card (4),as in Figure 3, the address is displayed in the display windows (3) of the service card, and the data is entered at that address. Each address is unique, and a new address window on the service card and / or new letter on the data storage card is selected if more data is to be entered on the data storage card.
when all the required data has been entered on the data storage card, the remaining squares are filled with random data. Alternatively the data storage card could initially contain random numbers, and, using the service card, the required data could be inserted at the desired addresses after first removing the random numbers at such desired addresses. The data is accessed in exactly the same way as it was enter -ed, any numbers-that appear in the address windows of the service card are disregarded, and to this end the data display windows are arrowed, (5) to avoid confusion.
Many different configurations are possible for the display windows (3) and address windows (4) on the service card, and more than 4 display windows could be provided for the service card, according to.
requirements.
