Abstract
A headcollar using smooth breakable rubber rings, 11, to connect smooth tape, 10, to provide headcollar that breaks under pressure if headcollar becomes caught up on anything. It is free from rough edges so that it does not rub horses skin, and has a plastic clip, 12, to fasten headcollar when secured around horses head. As there is no metal in headcollar it can be washed in washing machine, therefore making it easier to keep clean, ensuring non- chafing qualities. <IMAGE>
Description
SAFETY NON-CHAFING HEADCOLLAR
This invention relates to a horses headcollar.
Headcollars are used on horses for several different reasons:a. To enable people to control them.
b. If you have a horse that is difficult to catch you may need to leave a headcollar
on a horse when it is turned out in a field to enable easier catching.
c. You may also need to leave a headcollar on a horse while it is turned out in a field
if you need to use a fly fringe, to protect a horses eyes from flies in the summer.
You cannot use a fly fringe without attaching it to a headcollar.
d. It is sometimes necessary to leave a headcollar on in a stable.
All these situations pose a great danger to the horse if the headcollar gets caught on
anything, e.g. a branch of a tree, or a handle on a gate, or bolt on a stable door.
The essential technical features of the Safety Non-Chafing Headcollar are that the
means by which all the different lengths of material making up the headcollar are
connected to each other is by the use of rubber rings instead of the metal ones
which are always used on all headcollars manufactured at present.
My invention using rubber rings will break if the horse becomes caught up on anything by its headcollar enabling it to be free and uninjured. The current headcollars on sale have metal rings which do not allow the headcollar to break in an emergency.
Horses are creatures that panic easily and headcollars in their present form are a great danger to the horse if he gets caught on anything, many serious accidents are caused this way.
My invention prevents this happening as the headcollar instantly breaks, yet it is strong enough to withstand reasonable everyday use.
Headcollars manufactured at the moment are made of nylon with metal attachments, or leather with metal attachments. My invention is made of smooth cotton tape. It has all the ridges where the tape is joined on the outside away from the horses skin, and all the rubber rings attaching tape together are smooth, this means that my headcollar is non-chafing. Chafing is also a big problem with headcollars as they are presently being manufactured, my invention also has a plastic clip instead of a metal one where the headcollar is actually held together when put around a horses head.
This enables my invention to be put in the washing machine, as there is no metal on it at all to damage a washing machine. This means it can be-frequently washed which is not possible with headcollars currently manufactured as they have all metal fittings, so they stay muddy and cause chafing when the mud rubs the horses face.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective the headcollar.
Referring to the drawing the headcollar comprises of smooth tape marked 10, rubber rings all marked 11, plastic clip marked 12, ridges where tape is joined are all marked 13.
Claims (2)
1. A Safety non-chafing Headcollar comprising of a horses headcollar wherein
connection of lengths of smooth tape is by smooth breakable rubber rings.
2. A Safety non-chafing headcollar as claimed in Claim 1 wherein means to
fasten it around horses head is by plastic clip.
