Abstract
A hand tool suspension device 1 comprised of an elastic suspension band 11 having two elastic sleeves 12, 12' connected to the two opposite ends thereof for holding the handles 21, 21' of a hand tool 2 so that it may be suspended. The suspension band and sleeve are integrally made by injection moulding. In an alternate form, a single elastic sleeve (12, fig 2) is balancedly connected to the two opposite ends of an elastic band for holding a hand tool having a single handle. Each elastic sleeve may be formed of a flat strip (14, fig 7) having two opposite ends (141, 142, fig 7) releasably connected by fastening means. <IMAGE>
Description
HAND TOOL SUS2EllSICN DEVICE The present invention relates to hand tool suspension devices. More particularly, the present invention relates to a hand tool suspension device suitable for holding up any of a variety of hand tools.
In retail stores, hand tools are individually packed in transparent plastic bags and sealed for sale. The packing cost of a hand tool is expensive. 'When a packed hand tool is unpacked, the packing material may be littered causing pollution problem. Further, a hand tool is not suitable for suspending from a supporting object. or suspending a hand tool from a supporting object, an additional suspension device shall be used.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a hand tool suspension device which is suitable for holding up any of a variety of hand tools.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a hand tool suspension device for holding up any of a variety of hand tools, which is inexpensive to manufacture.
According to a first embodiment of the present invention. there is provided a hand tool suspension device which is generally comprised of two elastic sleeves connected to the tuo opposite ends of a suspension band for holding the two handles of a hand tool. The elastic sleeves and the suspension band are integratedly made from an elastic plastic or nylon material through the process of injection molding.
The inner diameter of each elastic sleeve is relatively smaller than the outer diameter of each handle of the hand tool to be held and therefore, inserting a handle of a hand tool into either elastic sleeve causes the handle to be firmly secured thereto. In a second embodiment of the present invention, a single elastic sleeve is balancedly connected to the tuo opposite ends of an elastic band for holding a hand tool having a single handle. Further, each elastic sleeve may be formed of a flat strip having two opposite ends releasably connected by fastening means.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drauings in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of hand tool suspension device according to the present invention, which comprises tuo elastic sleeves connected to the tuo opposite ends of a suspension band for holding the tuo handles of a hand tool;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a second embodiment of hand tool suspension device according to the present invention, which comprises a single elastic sleeve for holding a hand tool having a single handle;
Fig. 3 illustrates an application of the hand tool suspension device of Fig. 1 in holding up a wire-cutting pliers;;
Fig. 4 illustrates another application of the hand tool suspension device of Fig. 1 in holding up a roundnose pliers;
Fig. 5 illustrates another application of the hand tool suspension device of Fig. 1 in holding up a conduitbending pincers;
Fig. 6 illustrates another application of the hand tool suspension device of Fig. 1 in holding up a socket wrench; and
Fig. 7 is a plan view showing that a sleeve is formed of a flat strip having male and female fastening elements attached to the two opposite ends thereof.
Referring to the various drawings attached herewith, a detailed description of the structural features of "Hand Tool Suspension Device" of the present invention is as follows:
Referring to Fig. 1, a suspension device 1 is generally comprised of a suspension band 11 and two sleeves 12, 12'. The suspension band 11 and the sleeves 12, 12' are integratedly made from an elastic plastic or nylon material through the process of injection molding. The suspension band 11 has two opposite ends 13, 13' terminated into the outer side walls 121, 121' of the two sleeves 12, 12'. It is most preferable that the suspension band 11 has a thicker middle part for protection against stress concentration.
The inner diameter of each sleeve 12 or 12' should be slightly smaller the two handles 21, 21' of a hand tool 2 to be held. Because the suspension device 1 is made from an elastic material, the sleeves 12, 12' can be expanded for inserting the two handles 21, 21' of a hand tool 2 (see Figs.
1, 3, 4 and 5) or the two unitary hand-hold portions 51, 51' of a socket wrench 5. 'When the two handles 21, 21" of a hand tool 2 are respectively inserted into the two sleeves 12, 12' of the suspension device 1, the two opposite ends 13, 13' of the suspension band 11 are in line with the two opposed inner wall surfaces 210, 210' of the two handles 21, 21' of the hand tool 2 so as not to obstruct the holding of the hand. The length of the suspension band 11 should not be shorter than the maximum length between the two terminal ends of the two handles 21, 21' of the hand tool 2 to be held when the two handles 21, 21' are fully extended out, and therefore, the handle 2 can still be conveniently operated after having been secured to the suspension device i. Of course, the suspension band 11 should not be too long.If the suspension band 11 is too long, it may obstruct the operation of the hand tool held thereby.
Referring to Fig. 2, therein illustrated is an alternate form of the present invention which is generally comprised of a suspension band 11 (like numerals assigned for like parts) having two opposite ends 13, 13' connected to a sleeve 12 at two opposite locations. This single-sleeve type of suspension device is designed for holding up a hand tool with single handle. As illustrated in Fig. 2, the sleeve 12 is fastened on the handle 31 of a screw driver 3, and therefore, the screw driver 3 can be suspended from a supporting object by the single-sleeve type of suspension device. Further, a tag 4 may be secured to the suspension band 11 by a staple 41. By means of this arrangement, a hand tool can be directly suspended from a show rack for sale without packing.
Referring to Fig. 7, a sleeve 14 which is connected to a suspension band 11 may be formed of a flat strip 14 having a male fastening element 141 and a female fastening element 142 at two opposite ends thereof. By fastening up the male and female fastening elements 141, 142, the flat strip 14 is formed into a sleeve 14.
