Abstract

To tighten any slack video tape between and on the reels in a video cassette, a hand tool has an end 1 engageable inside the hub of a cassette reel for manual reel rotation. The tool may have a T-bar handle. <IMAGE>

Description

VIDEO TAPE TIGHTENER This invention relates to a video tape tightener.
During the course of a video tapes life, frequent usage has the effect of loosening the video tape upon the two wheels, to which it is fixed inside the tape cassette housing. If the tape becomes too slack upon the wheels, it results in poor picture quality causing the image to jump, become fuzzy or play too slowly.
If it is not known that a poor picture may be due to tape looseness, then the offending tape may be disposed of as useless.
According to the present invention there is provided a key comprising a round spoked end, the dimensions of which fit tightly into the back of a VHS video cassette. This is in turn mounted on a disc or 'T' bar which allows easy turning of the key about it's axis.
The invention will be further described with the aid of the enclosed drawings in which:fig 1. shows a front view of the tightener fig 2. shows a plan view of the tightener.
To tighten any slack tape in a video cassette, simply fit the key end 1 into the right hand reel on the back of the cassette, then turn the key in a clockwise direction until any slack is taken up from between the two reels. It should be noted that the tape should not be overtightened.

Claims (2)

1. A video tape tightener comprising of a round spoked key end, the dimensions of which fit tightly into the back of a VHS cassette drive wheel. This is in turn mounted upon a conveniently shaped end to allow for easy turning.
2. A video tape tightener as claimed in claim 1, which when fitted into the back of a VHS cassette and turned in the appropriate direction, will take up any slack video tape by winding it from one reel to the other
