Extrusion machines.-Apparatus for extruding seamless tubes such as sausage casings from plastic material such as viscose comprises an extrusion nozzle formed by the parts 6, 7 which are mounted at the base of a tank 11 in such manner that the tube is projected upwardly into the liquid contained therein, the tube being withdrawn upwardly through the hardening liquid. The inner member 7 of the nozzle, which ie centered by means of adjusting-screws 9, may be of tubular form, and through the passage so formed is passed a narrow tube 13 projecting some distance from the nozzle; hardening liquid is supplied to the interior of the extruded tube through the member 7, and serves to distend the tube while surplus liquid escapes through the valve-controlled outlet 14 of the tube 13. To maintain regularity in the diameter of the extruded tube, a mandrel 16 having a lower conical portion 17 may be mounted on the inner member 7 of the nozzle, the hardening fluid in this construction escaping through passages bored in the conical portion 17 and passing away to the outlet through a central passage 13<b> in the cylindrical portion 16 in communication with the pipe 13. Plastic material is supplied under pressure from a press 1, and to ensure continuous working a second and similar press may be added. Specification 213,931 is referred to.
